PRIMARY PURPOSE OF THE POSITION: This position is responsible for performing necessary repairs and project maintenance on systems including electrical, plumbing, hydraulic, pneumatic, mechanical, cutting and welding, as directed by the Maintenance Supervisor, to keep the facility operating in a safe and efficient manner to meet customer needs. This role will also troubleshoot and repair various production and packaging machines. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: • Ensure operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing maintenance requirements on electric motors, pneumatic diverters, conveyor systems and production machines. • Follow all diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer’s instructions, and engineering specifications. • Troubleshoot malfunctions by locating sources of problems, observing mechanical devices in operation, listening for problems with the equipment and using precision measuring and testing instruments. • Fabricate repair parts by using machine shop instrumentation and equipment. • Conduct daily examinations of equipment for assigned area(s) to identify signs of excessive wear, defects, and damage. • Repair industrial equipment and machinery to ensure safe, efficient operations. • Record all maintenance and repair services performed using the Company’s work order software, which also includes keeping track of all materials and parts used during the repair process. • Complete all paperwork accurately to comply with HACCP, tracebility, FS, and quality requirements. • Maintain excellent position regarding GMPs. • Housekeeping responsibilities shall be maintained in all areas including repair job sites throughout the facility. • Adhere to the Lifeline Foods Code of Team Behavior. In that regard, this position will be expected to perform duties outside the key responsibilities • Responsible for Food Safety and quality. WORK ENVIRONMENT: • The work environment is manufacturing. • Frequently exposed to airborne particles (dust) and/or toxic or caustic chemicals. • Occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions. • Frequently exposed to hot/cold and/or humid conditions. • Frequently works near machinery with moving parts. • Occasionally exposed to high, precarious places. • Frequently exposed to fumes and risk of electrical shock and vibration. • The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: • High School education or equivalent is preferred, or at least 3 years of experience using mechanical or other related skills (preferably in a milling and/or manufacturing environment); or an equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience. • Must be at least 18 years of age. • Basic math skills are required. • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, and technical procedures. • Basic hydraulics/pneumatics experience required. • Electrical experience (480/110/low voltage) experience is preferred. • Must have proficient working knowledge and safe use of hand tools and industrial shop tools. • Good verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with internal customers. • Technology proficient to include use of computers and two-way radio communications. • Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion. • Ability to read, write and speak fluently in English is required.
