Position Summary: The Spare Helper is an entry level position. Duties/Responsibilities: • Assist mechanics in performing repairs and maintenance on vehicles and equipment • Clean and organize work areas and tools • Follow safety protocols and maintain a safe working environment • Learn and develop skills in various areas of mechanical work Required Skills/Abilities: • Familiarity with hand tools and power tools • Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team • Strong problem-solving skills to assist with diagnosing issues • Excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate with mechanics and other team member. Skills: • English proficiency for effective communication with team members and customers • Low voltage electrical skills for working on electrical systems in equipment • Hydraulics knowledge for working on hydraulic systems in vehicles or equipment • Field service experience for performing repairs on-site at customer locations • Electrical skills for working on electrical systems in equipment (low voltage) • High voltage electrical skills for working on high voltage systems in equipment (if applicable) • Analytical skills to diagnose mechanical issues and troubleshoot problems effectively • Fabrication skills to assist with creating or modifying parts as needed • Must be able to lift 60lbs. • Regular, full-time, predictable onsite attendance per the posted schedule is an essential function of this role. • Ability to work well with coworkers as a team. • Must be able to work in variable work conditions (hot, cold, noise, etc). • We are willing to train the right candidates. Education and Experience: • 1 year of previous manufacturing or construction experience is preferred. Requirements: ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Responsibilities include teaching four classes per semester and engage in appropriate faculty service. POSITION QUALIFICATIONS The successful candidate should hold a M.S. or Ph.D. in mechanical engineering. He or she must be willing to teach a variety of mechanical engineering courses and laboratories as well as some general engineering classes. The candidate will be expected to contribute substantially to the development of the BC School of Engineering. Moreover, he or she is expected to exemplify the integration of the Catholic Faith with the engineering profession. Teaching and industrial experience are desirable.
