Contract to Direct Hire Role! • Looking for Design/CAD experience and we will teach the sprinkler side. • Mechanical Designer or Mechanical Engineer for this role Job Description • Design fire suppression systems including wet, dry, pre-action, and foam fire sprinkler systems • Perform detailed shop drawings (field installation drawings and hydraulic calculations), field engineering functions (on the jobsite support and review), and operation planning (field installation support) • Compile and prepare plan submittals (shop drawings) and material submittals for review by architects, engineers, clients, and authorities having jurisdiction Coordinate fire sprinkler design with the building structure and other MEP subcontractors. • Prepare project material stock lists to be used for material procurement assist with Field engineering troubleshooting and support for the installation operations on the jobsite Prepare "as-built" drawings for in-house archive and client files. • General understanding of job costs related to engineering, material and fabrication, and labor. • Work productively and meet deadlines timely. • Communicate and interact effectively and professionally with supervisors, employees, and others individually or in a team environment. • Perform work safely and effectively. • Understand and follow oral and written instructions, including warning signs, equipment use, and other policies. • Work during normal operating hours to organize and complete work within given deadlines. • Willing to teach. Mechanical Engineer III

Lake Superior Consulting is seeking a Mechanical Engineer III to join our growing team! The successful candidate will be responsible for the mechanical design of facilities and systems associated with energy industry projects from inception through to delivery. The position will be responsible for performing engineering analysis and calculations, developing reports, interface with clients, as well as provide guidance to more junior personnel. Responsibilities: • Provide engineering expertise for mechanical design, oversee the development of drawing packages, estimating, and functions for projects involving pipelines, process systems, and other energy industry related facilities. • Provide technical assistance to Engineering and Operations Departments to resolve operating problems or to establish best operating practices. • Take initiative to determine best paths forward for effective project execution. • Effectively complete projects using engineering principles and techniques. • Formulate conclusions and make recommendations. • Read and interpret P&ID, technical drawings, schematics, equipment specifications, industry codes, and technical reports. • General knowledge of industry codes such as ASME B31.3, 31.4, 31.8, etc. • Produce details for project specifications and develop design requirements for projects. • Confer with other engineers and other personnel to implement operating procedures, resolve system malfunctions, and provide technical information. • Perform basic modifications to computer aided design (CAD) and drafting functions to assist in completion of project deliverables. • Possess knowledge of materials and material specifications • Perform design analyses, engineering calculations, and write technical reports. • Work with CAD designers to develop drawing packages suitable for project construction. • Provide direction to more junior personnel. • Professional Engineering License preferred. FEF/EIT Certification Required. • Professional Engineers will be required to approve and stamp engineering designs. Position Requirements: • Bachelor’s Degree (or higher) in Mechanical Engineering, from an accredited university • 3+ years of working experience required. • EIT required, PE preferred • Leadership skills, positive attitude, strong communication skills • Ability to quickly adapt to diverse needs and changing projects. • Willingness and eagerness to learn new skills. • Ability to work in group settings with a project team and collaborate effectively with others. • Competency with Microsoft office suite (word, excel, outlook, etc.). • The position will typically require less than 20% travel but could be more intensive at times. • Oil/Gas experience, a plus. • Ability to independently perform engineering design functions. The range of starting pay for this role is $80,200 - $110,200 per year.
