About the Role: As a Maintenance Technician you will perform maintenance repairs on all plant and facility equipment. Maintain and tests mechanical and electrical equipment, machinery, and components. Conducts preventative maintenance and identifies parts for replacement. Location: Atchison, KS Shift: 1st and 2nd Shift (Train on days) Pay: $27.04 Key Responsibilities: • Perform repairs, modifications, and new parts installations on existing equipment • Carry out preventive maintenance on equipment per the schedule and work instructions provided • Participate in the installation of new plant equipment • Repair/install pneumatics, electrical, hydraulics, and structural framing • Maintain required record files and maintenance logs • Utilize proper tools necessary to perform maintenance & repairs • Understand and follow lock-out tag-out, confined space and fall protection policies • Keep areas clean and practice good housekeeping in work areas • Alert supervisor to any safety or quality issues needing attention • Alert supervisor to any maintenance needs • Other duties as assigned Qualifications: • High School Diploma or equivalent required Experience: • Prefer at least 2 to 3 years’ experience as one of the following: Electrician, Millwright or Mechanic • Prefer 1-2 year experience with AC or DC to 480V 3 phase electrical systems • Experience using ohmmeters, voltmeters • Experience reading electrical schematics • Experience reading blueprints • Experience using power tools • Preferred 1-2 years working on overhead cranes • Experience driving forklifts, manlifts • PLC knowledge preferred Skills and Knowledge: • Ability to use hand and power tools • Ability to troubleshoot equipment problems required • Ability to read and interpret work instructions, blueprints, and structural diagrams required • Previous experience in pneumatics, hydraulics, plumbing and carpentry preferred • Prefer welding and fabrication and use of plasma and cutting equipment experience • Prefer previous training in HazMat and Spill Prevention • Ability to complete necessary paperwork including work orders for preventative maintenance • Ability to read a tape measure and do basic math including fractions required Why join our team at Vulcan Metals Corp? Heavy Equipment Technician / Mechanic
