Gear and Mechanical Drivetrain Engineer

This mid to advanced level position relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. • Development Planning - Propose drivetrain definitions or specifications to meet a given set of guidelines. Recommend plans for development, testing, and review. Organize project details and manage project deliverables: Task lists, schedules, assist quality plans, supplier evaluations, etc. • Development/Evolution and Evaluation - Introduce/evolve alternate drive train concepts to meet commercially compatible definitions or specifications. Collaborate when appropriate with in-plant manufacturing gear engineers. Document concepts to be presented for critical review and support of decision-making process. Perform appropriate analysis of proposed gear drive, including gears, bearings, shafts, and housings for variety of operating conditions. Ensure performance goals are met and design integrity is maintained and conforms to Company and industry standards. • Other Tasks - Recommend, develop, and implement design tools when necessary. Support other functional groups such as purchasing, manufacturing, service, quality, and product engineering when warranted. Perform other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications: • Bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent experience. • 2 years of mechanical design experience related to gear and drivetrain (salary will be commensurate with experience). • Computer aided design (CAD) and 3-D modeling skills. • Geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) application skills. • Good written communication, verbal communication, analytical, and interpersonal skills. • Ability to travel occasionally with overnight stays (0-5%). • Reliable transportation to travel locally between company locations during scheduled workday.

Senior Mechanical Engineer

Job Summary: Come join the team at Henneman Engineering! Henneman provides comprehensive engineering solutions and consulting services to a broad base of clients. We provide mechanical, electrical, plumbing, structural, process, and controls engineering to clients in the government, higher education, healthcare, and manufacturing industries. Henneman currently has a position open for an experienced mechanical engineer for a role in our Champaign, IL office. Ideally the candidate works in-office, but we are open to hybrid and remote arrangements. Responsibilities of the Senior Mechanical Engineer: • Perform work as a senior mechanical engineer in all aspects of project development, including client coordination, pre-design services, final design services, meetings, site visits, and project management. • Conduct existing conditions surveys and prepare PFDs, P&IDs, layouts, sections, elevations, and details as appropriate to document relevant conditions. • Conceptualize the initial process, mechanical, and plumbing design approach for projects, having overall responsibility for the engineering and/or design work related to process, mechanical and plumbing systems, and code requirements. • Coordinate, design, and schedule with other disciplines, such as architectural, structural, electrical, and controls to resolve a variety of complex problems (i.e., conflicting design requirements, unsuitability of conventional materials, difficult coordination requirements). • Organize and prepare process, mechanical, and plumbing construction drawings (PFDs, P&IDs, layouts, sections, elevations, and details as appropriate), technical specifications, contract documents, and estimates. • Develop engineering solutions and designs, cost estimates, bill of materials, and schedules for projects. • Have knowledge of applicable codes and standards related to mechanical, piping, and plumbing systems. Qualifications: • Education: 4-Year Mechanical Engineering degree from an accredited engineering school in the United States. Sr Mechanical Design Scientist

As a Sr Mechanical Design Scientist, you will focus on OCI data center mechanical infrastructure. A mix of technical breadth and depth is required to work cross-functionally with different disciplines (Mechanical, Electrical, Thermal, and Software) to develop thermal solution optimized for the entire data center stack. You will work with internal and external partners, focusing on delivering the next generation of world class hardware and data centers. Familiarization with Data Center Cooling Design and ASHRAE Data Center Standards. Build, conduct thermal simulations, and review thermal simulation models from partners to identify data center risks and improve efficiency. Design and conduct experiments for validating and producing accurate CFD and MBD models by comparing test results against platform telemetry and facility BMS data. Engage with leading CFD software companies to drive their product roadmap to meet OCI's requirements for high density fluid cooling solutions. Experience in thermal design and analysis of compute architecture and working knowledge of mechanical and electrical system design considerations. Collaborate with OCI engineering teams to develop and implement new CFD technologies and methodologies for improving performance and efficiency of OCI platforms and data center infrastructure. Technical lead, serving as a resident data center mechanical systems and thermal management domain expert. Apply engineering cooling methodologies to craft solutions for small and large-scale data center designs. Use Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) and flow network modeling tools to generate data center digital twin models from chip to external heat rejection solutions. Design and conduct experiments for generating and validating accurate CFD models by comparing test results with platform telemetry and facility BMS data.
