About the Role We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Maintenance Technician to join our team. Summary The Mechanic works independently and with other plant personnel to perform preventative, predictive and routine maintenance tasks. This role includes troubleshooting issues, repairing failures of production and facilities equipment, and ensuring maximum equipment efficiency and effectiveness. This person provides direction for effective execution of maintenance activity on all machinery and equipment throughout the plant and office facilities. The Maintenance Mechanic is also responsible for the optimum utilization of available resources such as manpower, equipment, time, etc. This person must be responsible for decisions, actions and failures; must establish clear responsibilities and processes for monitoring work and measuring results. In addition, the maintenance mechanic must partner with others to get work done and work cooperatively with others across the organization to achieve shared objectives. Key Responsibilities Set up, operate, and maintain food packaging equipment , such as form-fill-seal machines, labelers, cartoners, case packers, and conveyors. Perform preventive and corrective maintenance to minimize downtime and maintain production efficiency. Troubleshoot mechanical and minor electrical issues to ensure consistent line operation and product flow. Adjust machine settings to meet packaging specifications, including product size, weight, and labeling requirements. Ensure packaging operations meet food safety standards , including allergen control, GMPs (Good Manufacturing Practices), and HACCP protocols. Clean and sanitize packaging equipment regularly to meet hygiene and food safety regulations. Monitor packaging integrity , including seal quality, label accuracy, and proper coding (e.g., expiration dates). Collaborate with production and quality assurance teams to resolve issues and support continuous improvement. Document maintenance activities, equipment performance, and downtime incidents in compliance with internal and regulatory standards. Support efficient changeovers , ensuring machines are configured correctly for new product runs while minimizing waste and delays. Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area , adhering to plant safety and 5S principles. Typical Education High school diploma or general education degree (GED) 3+ years related experience and/or training Other Information Experience with hydraulics, pneumatics, and mechanics; Basic electrical repair in an industrial/manufacturing environment; Ability to read and interpret documents and drawings and write detailed repair reports; Ability to analyze and make decisions; Ability to diagram equipment control problems; Strong verbal and written English communication skills; Good organizational and planning skills. Preferred: Experience with 480-volt power and 24 control voltages to 120 volt electrical troubleshooting; Program and trouble shoot Allen Bradley SLC 500 and Micro Logix series. Must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactory, and represent the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.
