TITLE: Electro-Mechanical Technician LOCATION: South Sioux City, NE REPORTS TO: Maintenance / Reliability Manager The Electro-Mechanical Technician will, ensure operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing general repairs, as well as, preventive maintenance requirements on motors, control systems, pneumatic systems, conveyor systems, utility systems, hydraulic systems, drive systems, and production machines, at Ingredion’s SSC Pea Protein facility. Must be experienced in following diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer's instructions, and engineering specifications; troubleshooting malfunctions, troubleshooting PLCs, and electrical systems. Maintains production and quality by ensuring the operation of machinery and mechanical equipment. As an Electro-Mechanical Tech, your responsibilities will include: • Being a leader in safety, a safe worker who demonstrates concern for personal safety and safety of others. • Demonstrating a willingness to participate in plant safety initiatives. • A working knowledge and ability to follow site safety rules and specific safety practices. • Commitment to support and participate in our strong Safety culture of zero injuries and illnesses. • Ensuring that company, customer, and regulatory procedures for safety, quality, production and costs are carried out effectively and efficiently across their respective shift. • Support the compliance with all plant regulatory, ISO, Quality, Food Safety systems, GMP policies, guidelines, standards and requirements. • Participate in and promote safety programs at all levels every day. • Locates sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation; listening for problems; using precision measuring and testing instruments. • Removes defective parts by dismantling devices; using hoists, cranes, and hand and power tools; examining form and texture of parts. • Determines changes in dimensional requirements of parts by inspecting used parts; using rules, calipers, micrometers, and other measuring instruments. • Troubleshoot electrical control, motor circuits, single and three phase electrical systems. • Adjusts functional parts of devices and control instruments by using hand tools, levels, plumb bobs, and straightedges. • Controls downtime by informing production workers of routine preventive maintenance techniques; monitoring compliance. • Fabricates repair parts by using machine shop instrumentation and equipment. • Maintains equipment, parts, and supplies inventories by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed equipment, parts, and supplies; placing and expediting orders; verifying receipt. • Maintain and improve electrical and mechanical knowledge and skills to improve customer service levels. • Ensure all work-orders are complete and accurate, including planned and unplanned assignments. • Conserves maintenance resources by using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results. • Provides mechanical maintenance information by answering questions and requests. • Prepares mechanical maintenance reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends. • Maintains technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing technical publications; establishing personal networks. • Maintains continuity among work teams by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs. • Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations. • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed. Qualified candidates will have: • High School diploma or equivalent. • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel. • Previous Food Industry Experience • Minimum of 3 years mechanical experience, preferable within a food manufacturing environment • Understand and have a working knowledge of PLC's and process control Systems, 480V electrical systems, and industrial hydraulics and boiler operations • Ability to use and maintain hand tools, metal working tools, and various shop tools • Ability to work on a 12-hour shift schedule in a continuous operation facility. • Ability to work as part of a team and be capable of self-direction. • Good verbal communication skills and basic computer and math skills, with a strong work ethic and positive attitude. • Ability and willingness to train in other job classifications. • Good decision-making skills. • Basic knowledge of hand tools and possesses a mechanical aptitude. • Previous manufacturing experience and material handling experience are preferred. • Flexibility and ability to deal well with ambiguity as job focus and assignments may change daily and by the hour. • Regular and prompt attendance. • Ability to operate equipment or diagnose / detect issues of machinery that may be located at different heights; may require work on ladders, on top of rail cars/trucks, scaffolding or other work at heights or in may work in confined spaces. • Full range of physical motion to operate manual and electrical power tools and various test equipment. • Ability to move throughout the facility, including climbing stairs in all buildings, and to work at various heights. • Ability to stand for long periods, walk, and climb stairs in hot and/or wet environments, while wearing appropriate PPE. • Ability to use hands to handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; and talk and hear.
