What you’ll do: • Utilize your mechanical knowledge in maintaining a high-speed can manufacturing line. • Troubleshoot, maintain, repair, and modify all mechanical systems. • Use precision measuring tools and work with close tolerances up to .0010. • Work with management to improve work area, safety, quality, cost, and productivity. Summary of Essential Job Functions • Participate in monitoring and evaluating the performance of existing systems, processes and technologies and recommend modifications and enhancements to improve Safety, Reliability, Quality, and overall Efficiency. • Oversee in selecting vendors, based on bids, qualification, and experience, and monitor/evaluate contractor and vendor performance to ensure work has been completed based on required standards, regulations and specifications. • Ensure projects are properly commissioned, tested, verified, and to address any additional issues during the commission before completely turning the product to the designated team. • Develop plans for Mechanical projects and ensure the cost and schedule targets are met for each project. • Work with Cross Functional Team in assigned area to resolve problems relating to mechanical systems • Discussions with maintenance team to determine root causes of machine failures and develop countermeasures to prevent reoccurrence. These items are of critical importance to improve overall reliability and call rank reduction of manufacturing equipment. • Work within assigned area with cross functional team members to understand existing and future designs, safety, impact, workflow, productivity, etc. • Develop, Assist, Identify, and Conduct Safety policies and procedures to ensure safe working environment and activities • Design and assist Mechanical safety systems/barriers – provide CAD drawings of designs for review and quoting/procurement process. • Analyze project requirements, identify, and address design parameters, engineering challenges and to ensure solutions are implemented accurately, timely and within budget. Serve as mechanical/construction technical lead, planning and organizing portions of a project. Budget, manpower, and equipment utilization. • Design/develop/assist with Project Scope, Project Budget, Project justification/feasibility, prepare Funds Request/Project documents, Procurement of components (RFQ’s, SAP Ordering/Budget Tracking), Installation & Testing, Equipment Release to Production, & Verification of Project Closing (Documentation for Maintenance, Stock Item Request, & Lessons Learned), and manage revision and final version of drawings and documents. • Assist projects such as new machine installations, upgrades, civil and structural etc. as necessary • Assist project workflow and support internal and external resources to ensure on-time delivery of projects, meeting quality standards and within budget. • Provide Contractor oversight of technical trades to ensure all relevant safety objectives and legal requirements, for all activities, are observed and implemented.
