Fluids Technician We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Fluids Technician to join our dynamic team at Triton Submarines. In this role, you will be responsible for the safe layout, fabrication, and installation of plumbing and tubing for manned submersibles and/ or underwater habitats. This role requires a deep understanding of piping systems to ensure the precise and reliable operation of critical equipment. You will interpret blueprints, route tubing, and properly clean and monitor stainless steel tubing. Key Responsibilities • Perform all job duties safely according to requirements. • Demonstrate proper use and care of hand tools and measuring devices. • Manually machine cut and thread pipe. • Perform hydrostatic and pneumatic testing to high pressures (450 Bar.) • Work with high pressure O2 and Air. • Install plumbing support according to DMV. • Clean, bevel, prepare, and install plumbing with Swagelok components. • Interpret detailed fluid drawings and blueprints. • Fabricate subassemblies from components. • Install prefab subassemblies or component parts. • Demonstrate proper use and care of power tools. • Assemble mechanical parts. • Perform other duties as assigned. Education and Certification Requirements • High school diploma or GED. An associate's degree in a related field is a plus. • Hands-on experience through internships or previous roles in mechanical settings. • Strong understanding of mechanical and engineering principles. • Ability to read and understand technical documents and drawings. Physical Demands • Visual acuity, balancing, stooping, reaching, walking, manual dexterity, grasping, feeling, hearing, talking. • Capacity to think, concentrate, and focus for long periods. • Ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs. A School for ETNs The six-month Electronics Technician Nuclear (ETN) course in Charleston, SC provides basic knowledge of technical mathematics and electricity, electronics, solid-state devices, digital logic, systems, microprocessors, and instrumentation/control circuits. Naval Nuclear Power School (NNPS) Upon completion of A School training, MMNs, EMNs, and ETNs attend Naval Nuclear Power School (NNPS) in Charleston, SC. Here, they learn theory and practical application of nuclear physics and reactor engineering. The six-month course provides a comprehensive understanding of a pressurized-water Naval nuclear power plant, including reactor core principles, heat transfer and fluid systems, plant chemistry and materials, mechanical and electrical systems, and radiological control. Nuclear Power Training Unit (NPTU) Following NNPS, MMNs, EMNs, and ETNs begin prototype training in their rating specialty at one of two Nuclear Power Training Units (NPTUs) located in Charleston, SC and Ballston Spa, NY. This six-month course teaches the fundamentals of a Naval nuclear power plant and the interrelationship of its mechanical, electrical, and reactor subsystems.
