Mechanical Senior Field Service Technician

Xylem is looking for a Mechanical Senior Service Center Technician to report to our Sanford, FL location and service our pumps both on-site and at customer sites in the surrounding area. What your day will look like as a Mechanical Senior Field Service Technician The Mechanical Senior Field Service Technician will be responsible for the maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of our pumps and their corresponding electrical and mechanical components. Equipment specific training will be provided, but applicants with previous experience working with industrial or commercial mechanical and electrical equipment are especially encouraged to apply. This position has general day shift hours with overtime opportunities and occasional afternoons/weekends. Position Requirements for Mechanical Senior Field Service Technicians • Two to three years of experience and/or training or combination of education, training and experience. • Ability to diagnose common mechanical and electrical issues. • Experience with engine repairs • Basic knowledge of methods, materials, tools and techniques to repair and maintain equipment. • Basic knowledge of DC electric and circuit testing skills • Ability to safely operate hand tools, power tools and lifting equipment. • Ability to communicate effectively with customers, co-workers and managers both verbally and in writing. • Clean driving record • Mechanical and electrical experience • Technically sound The estimated salary range for this position is $25 to $30/hr. Starting pay is dependent on multiple factors, such as skills, experience, and work location, and is not typically at the top of the range. Position Summary We are seeking a creative and detail-oriented Mechanical Engineer with strong SolidWorks expertise to support the design and development of new sheet metal and enclosure products. This position plays a key role in taking new ideas from concept to production, collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure designs meet quality, manufacturability, and cost objectives. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in SolidWorks 3D modeling, sheet metal design, and product development in a manufacturing environment. Key Responsibilities · Design and develop new products, prototypes, and custom mechanical solutions using SolidWorks. · Create detailed 3D models, assemblies, and 2D fabrication drawings for sheet metal components and assemblies. · Collaborate with Electrical Engineers, Production, and Quality teams to ensure integration of mechanical and electrical design requirements. · Generate and maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs), assembly instructions, and manufacturing documentation. · Participate in new product introduction (NPI) and continuous improvement initiatives. · Conduct design reviews, tolerance analysis, and manufacturability assessments. · Support fabrication and assembly teams during build and testing phases. · Recommend design changes to improve quality, performance, and ease of manufacturing. · Ensure all designs comply with company standards and applicable industry codes (ANSI, ASME, UL). Qualifications • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field. • Minimum 3 years of experience in mechanical design, preferably within a sheet metal fabrication or manufacturing environment. • Proficient in SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or equivalent CAD tools. • Strong understanding of sheet metal design, tolerances, fasteners, and fabrication processes (bending, welding, laser cutting, etc.). • Excellent technical drawing, communication, and project management skills. • Ability to interpret electrical cabinet drawings and integrate mechanical designs with electrical systems (preferred). • Strong attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Preferred Qualifications • Experience designing custom electrical enclosures or mechanical assemblies. • Familiarity with ERP or PLM systems for BOM and revision management. • Knowledge of manufacturing workflows and lean production practices. • Experience supporting prototyping and testing phases of product development. Working Conditions • Air-conditioned manufacturing facility. Please note temperatures may still be warm due to machinery and powder-coating operations. Applicants must be able to work in warm warehouse conditions. • PPE (safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection, etc.) provided by the company.
