Mechanical Engineer - PE

Description CPH is a multi-disciplined Engineering and Architectural design firm that ranks in the nation’s Top 500 Design Firms by ENR Magazine. CPH has an opening in our Sanford, FL location for the following position: Mechanical Engineer - PE with 5+ years of experience in commercial and industrial design. This position may be eligible for hybrid flexibility. Hiring Bonus of up to $5,000 for selected candidate! Job Description: The Senior Mechanical Engineer is responsible for supporting and leading projects from inception to completion. designing mechanical and plumbing systems, and mentoring junior staff. This role includes maintaining project schedules, interfacing with clients, and delivering high-quality solutions. The ideal candidate will possess strong project management skills, technical expertise, and a commitment to continuous improvement. Duties Include: • Design and develop mechanical and plumbing systems independently. • Prepare and revise documentation across various project phases. • Manage and execute mechanical engineering deliverables across multiple projects in a dynamic work environment. • Develop project scope, budgets, and design approaches for projects of varying complexity. • Prepare data sheets and specifications for equipment procurement. • Conduct quality assurance and control on personal and peer projects. • Assist in creating new standards and specifications for the mechanical engineering group. • Maintain knowledge of industry trends and recommend changes to approaches and client services as needed. • Participate in client/vendor/contractor project requirement meetings, value analysis sessions, and cost estimating activities. • Lead the preparation and coordination of project specifications and related documents. • Perform other duties as assigned. Requirements: Education and Experience: • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university • Licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) in Florida or ability to attain reciprocity. NCEES record and ability to obtain PE in other states is a plus. • Minimum of 5 years of mechanical engineering and design experience, including HVAC, Plumbing, Fire Protection, Boilers, Chillers, and Central Heating (CH) systems. • Project experience in designing Mechanical/HVAC systems for various markets, including commercial, utility, industrial, institutional and municipal. • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, energy/load simulation software, and Microsoft Office. Required Skills/Abilities: • Proficiency in mechanical design software, such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Revit, or similar tools. • Strong understanding of mechanical systems, components, and design principles. • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, specifications, and engineering data. • Proficiency in MS Office, including Word, Excel and Outlook and familiarity with Deltek Vision and Smartsheet or similar software’s platforms. • Strong project management and organizational skills. • Ability to exercise critical thinking and good independent judgement. • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with a team. • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. • Ability to effectively multi-task and work on multiple projects while adhering to project schedules and budgets. • Flexibility in work schedule to accommodate project deadlines. • Detail oriented, quality conscious, reliable and self-motivated.
