Project Engineer I, II or III

JOB The Peace River Manasota Regional Water Supply Authority (Authority) is a regional public water supplier that currently provides 30 million gallons of wholesale drinking water per day to approximately 1,000,000 people in a rapidly growing region of southwest Florida. Authority water supplies currently include the Peace River, two large surface water reservoirs capable of storing 6.5 billion gallons of water, two Aquifer Storage and Recovery (ASR) Wellfields, and a 51 MGD water treatment facility. To assist our team in continuing to successfully accomplish our mission to supply safe, resilient, environmentally sustainable, and cost-effective water supplies to our region, the Authority is hiring an Electrician. The selected candidate will be classified and compensated as an Electrician apprentice, I, II, or III, commensurate with education and experience in an industrial environment. This position is situated at the Authority’s Peace Rive Facility located approximately five miles north of I-75 Kings Highway Exit 170 in the vicinity of Port Charlotte, Florida.JOB SUMMARYThis position is responsible for performing engineering work by reviewing and evaluating the work of consultants and contractors, managing projects, and providing technical engineering support for water production and supply operations and environmental compliance A full list of essential functions for each level of Project Engineer can be found at www.regionalwater.org/careers. QUALIFICATIONSEducation and Experience: Project Engineer IBachelor’s Degree with a major in engineering with an emphasis on environmental or civil engineering; and two (2) years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.• Within one year of employment or placement: Florida Engineer in training certification• Within four years of employment or placement: Florida Professional Engineer LicenseProject Engineer IIBachelor’s Degree with a major in engineering with an emphasis on environmental or civil engineering; and five (5) years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.• Within one year of employment or placement: Florida Professional Engineer License• Completion of Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM) or Project Management Professional (PMP) through the Project Management InstituteProject Engineer IIIBachelor’s Degree with a major in engineering with an emphasis on environmental or civil engineering; and ten (10) years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.• Florida Professional Engineer or ability to obtain same within 6 months of hire.• Completion of Project Management Professional (PMP) through the Project Management Institute Special Qualification: A valid State of Florida driver’s license to operate the motor vehicle operated. The requirement exists at the time of hire and as a condition of continued employment. Mechanic

JOB Responsible for repairing and overhauling of a variety of construction and maintenance equipment with special emphasis on diesel powered and complex public works equipment. EXAMPLE OF DUTIES Performs preventive maintenance on a wide variety of equipment, including small engine, cars/light trucks, heavy equipment, hydraulic equipment, fire/rescue equipment, and other specialized equipment in order to identify potential operating problems.Disassemble units and inspect parts for wear, using micrometers, calipers, and gauges.Overhaul or replace carburetors, blowers, generators, distributors, starters, and pumps.Install and repair accessories such as radios, heaters, mirrors, and windshield wipers.Examine vehicles to determine extent of damage or malfunctions.Repairs damaged automobile bodies.Repair manual and automatic transmissions.Repair or replace parts such as pistons, rods, gears, valves, and bearings.Repair, reline, replace and adjust brakes.Rewire ignition systems, lights, and instruments panels.Tear down, repair, and rebuild faulty assemblies such as power systems, steering systems, and linkages.Test and adjust repaired systems to meet manufacturers' performance specifications.Test drive vehicles, and test components and systems, using equipment such as infrared engine analyzers, compression gauges, and computerized diagnostic devices.Follow checklists to ensure all important parts are examined, including belts, hoses, steering systems, spark plugs, brake and fuel systems, wheel bearings, and other potentially troublesome areas.Review work order and discuss with mechanic crew leader.Maintains shop area and related equipment in order to ensure a safe working environment, ensure equipment operates properly/safely and identify equipment not operating properly/safely.Prepares and completes various forms, reports, performance appraisals, accident reports and daily activity.Reports accidents, injuries and other incidents.Responds to emergencies as required and may be required to work additional days and hours as needed.Performs all other duties as assigned.Available for work before, during, and after natural disasters for service to the public.Required to provide own tools to adequately perform the above listed functions. SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION High school graduate or possession of an acceptable equivalent diploma; three (3) years of relevant mechanical experience; or an equivalent combination of training, education and experience.Special Qualifications: Possession of a valid Florida Commercial Driver's License, Class "A" with air brakes, an acceptable driving record is required. Will accept preparation of a CDL permit with the ability to obtain a CDL in 90 days. (Certain endorsements may be required such as H, N, or X.) Preferred: ISMA Work Zone Safety Certificate, National Incident Management System (NMIS) 700 Supervisory training course.
