Responsibilities include: • Signing and sealing Publix mechanical construction documents as the Mechanical Engineer of Record • Participating in the design and production of construction documents for new prototypes and site-specific projects to coordinate and develop store plans • Supervising Engineers and Designers participating in the design and review of prototypical Mechanical Engineering design • Addressing mechanical engineering issues that arise in the permitting process providing clarification when needed • Maintaining and/or improving the quality level and clarity of the mechanical drawings and specifications • Developing economical reviews of Publix’s mechanical system to ensure the systems provide the best possible economic benefit while reducing energy costs • Reviewing plans submitted by external Mechanical Engineers for remodels and tenant buildouts • Assisting in the review of mechanical documents for unique stores as submitted by contracted consulting firms Required qualifications: • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited engineering program • 6 years’ experience working as a Mechanical Engineer • Must be a licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in Florida • Knowledge of proper building design process and building technology • Knowledge of HVAC, Plumbing, Fire Protection and Refrigeration systems • Ability to draft in AutoCAD and/or Revit • Ability to lead a variety of team members in completing the task • Willingness to travel to onsite locations inclusive of overnight stays • Ability to work variable schedule (nights, weekends, and holidays) Preferred qualifications: • 4 years of Mechanical Engineer project management experience and 4 years’ experience in retail grocery design • NCEES member • Ability to be registered by comity as a Mechanical Engineer in the States where Publix conducts business Year End Bonus As a year-end bonus to associates, Publix issues one month’s extra pay (pro-rated in the first year) each year if associate remains employed through issue date of the bonus check that year. This is calculated as a 13th month of pay in the Potential Annual Pay with Bonus line above.
