We are seeking the following Florida licensed professional engineer: • Mechanical Professional Engineer (PE) - Orlando, FL Our Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for supporting and leading projects from inception to completion. designing mechanical and plumbing systems and mentoring junior staff. This role includes maintaining project schedules, interfacing with clients, and delivering high-quality solutions. The ideal candidate will possess strong project management skills, technical expertise, and a commitment to continuous improvement. What You'll Do: -Primary Responsibilities- • Design and develop mechanical and plumbing systems independently. • Prepare and revise documentation across various project phases. • Manage and execute mechanical engineering deliverables across multiple projects in a dynamic work environment. • Develop project scope, budgets, and design approaches for projects of varying complexity. • Prepare data sheets and specifications for equipment procurement. • Conduct quality assurance and control on personal and peer projects. • Assist in creating new standards and specifications for the mechanical engineering group. • Maintain knowledge of industry trends and recommend changes to approaches and client services as needed. • Participate in client/vendor/contractor project requirement meetings, value analysis sessions, and cost estimating activities. • Lead the preparation and coordination of project specifications and related documents. • Perform other duties as assigned. What You'll Need: -Position Requirements- • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university • Licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) in Florida or ability to attain reciprocity. NCEES record and ability to obtain PE in other states is a plus. • Minimum of 5 years of mechanical engineering and design experience, including HVAC, Plumbing, Fire Protection, Boilers, Chillers, and Central Heating (CH) systems. • Project experience in designing Mechanical/HVAC systems for various markets, including commercial, utility, industrial, institutional and municipal. • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, energy/load simulation software, and Microsoft Office. • Proficiency in mechanical design software, such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Revit, or similar tools. • Strong understanding of mechanical systems, components, and design principles. • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, specifications, and engineering data. • Proficiency in MS Office, including Word, Excel and Outlook and familiarity with Deltek Vision and Smartsheet or similar software’s platforms. • Strong project management and organizational skills. • Ability to exercise critical thinking and good independent judgement. • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with a team. • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. • Ability to effectively multi-task and work on multiple projects while adhering to project schedules and budgets. • Flexibility in work schedule to accommodate project deadlines. • Detail oriented, quality conscious, reliable and self-motivated. This position conducts inspections and tests in the assigned specialty area to enforce compliance with the County adopted codes, and applicable laws, rules and regulations. Work is performed with considerable independence under the general direction of the assigned supervisor. Performance is reviewed through observations, conferences, reports and results achieved. Job Description This position inspects construction for compliance with adopted mechanical codes, plans & specifications of the State of Florida Energy, Mechanical, NFPA, ASHRAE and Gas Codes when systems are to be enlarged, altered, repaired, moved, demolished, or installed. This includes but is not limited to the following: ducts used for exhaust, air conditioning, smoke evacuation, ventilation, chillers, air handler units, boilers, incinerators, grease hoods, heat hoods, walk-in coolers, walk-in freezers, ice machines, mechanical fire penetrations and paint booths. This also includes piping for steam, hot water, chiller water, condenser water, fuel, gas and refrigeration piping, and gas appliances which includes gas venting, combustion air, insulation for ducts, and piping. Keeps a record of such inspections and violations. • Conducts inspections for compliance with adopted codes, ordinances and state statutes. • Reads and interprets construction plans and blueprints. Informs public of building code changes and explains code to contractors, architects, engineers and homeowners. • Maintains accurate records of inspection activities and violations. • Utilizes Building Division mobile data computer system. Assist with emergency support functions in the event of a declared emergency and/or any other emergency duties assigned. • Performs other related work as assigned. Minimum Qualifications: Mechanical Inspector I High School Graduate or equivalent and 4 years of experience in the construction industry. An Associate's or Bachelor's degree in related field may substitute for up to 3 years of experience on a one for one basis with a minimum of 1 year of construction experience Experience must be verified, in the form of an affidavit, by a licensed contractor, fire marshal, architect, engineer, or building official during first week of employment. Must possess and maintain a valid State of Florida driver's license and provide own transportation if necessary. Mechanical Inspector I - Additional Mandatory Requirement A Mechanical Inspector candidate must qualify for a provisional Inspector license in the applicable trade pursuant to Florida Statue chapter 468, Part XII. Employee(s) must obtain a provisional Inspector license with 120 days from date of hire and a standard inspectors license within two years from the date of receiving a provisional license and shall maintain said license throughout employment as an Inspector. Note: Employees that are unable to obtain the required license(s) within the established timeframe will be required to forfeit their position as an Orange County Mechanical Inspector. Mechanical Inspector II High school graduate or equivalent and 5 years of experience in the construction industry. An Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a related field may substitute for up to 4 years of experience on a one for one basis with a minimum of 1 year of construction experience.
