You will work directly with NASA and our National Team Partners as part of the Human Landing System (HLS) Sustaining Lunar Development (SLD) program. We are looking for an engineer to be responsible for the development and integration of thermal components across the Blue Moon Crew Lander as a part of the SLD Crew Lander Thermal Systems Engineering Vehicle Team. In this role, you will drive component and system requirement development and determine performance requirements, interfaces, and allocated resources (mass, power, etc.) for critical thermal components on the Blue Moon Crew Lander. You will be responsible for ensuring the design, delivery, and integration of spacecraft thermal components. You will also be responsible for all technical, programmatic, and cost aspects of the assigned thermal component to ensure the component is delivered fully qualified before delivering it to vehicle assembly for integration and system-level testing. Minimum Qualifications: • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering • 10+ years of spacecraft thermal engineering experience • First principles understanding of heat transfer and thermodynamics; ability to perform simple hand calcs • Strong grasp of heat transfer, fluid mechanics, and mechanical design • Experience and ability to work independently on rapid development programs • Demonstrated experience in designing, sizing, building, testing, verifying, and validating aerospace hardware is required Preferred Skills and Experience: • 15+ years of relevant experience with spacecraft thermal systems or spacecraft component design • Master’s degree in aerospace, mechanical, or related engineering discipline • Demonstrated ability to own hardware or systems within an integrated engineering team in a professional setting.
