Joining Collins Aerospace isn’t just about finding a job; it’s about embarking on a journey to redefine the future of aerospace technology. What YOU will do • Plan sequences for numerical control machine tools that machine contour and net trim to various heights, sizes and shapes of aluminum honeycomb core and titanium/Inconel honeycomb structures (jet engine exhaust structures). • Select correct machine tool applications to provide the most efficient method available to meet the production and Engineering requirements of parts to be machined. • Provide direct support to machine shop and manufacturing cell operations. • Assist in monitoring and verifying part quality in accordance with statistical process or other control procedures. • Participate in and drive continuous improvements aimed at cycle time and defect reduction. • Import/create required geometry using CATIA V5 software and generate tool paths to achieve accurate part dimensions/surfaces with efficient processing movements and cycle times. • Plan machining operations, develop associated manufacturing setup documents and work instructions to be used by machine operators. • Develop manufacturing plans and estimates, solve problems, improve manufacturability of products and ensure products are machined to comply with drawings and specifications, based on interactions with machine operators and design and other manufacturing engineers. • Create, modify and maintain CNC programs for 5-Axis CNC mills/routers/machining centers used to machine engineered aluminum honeycomb and titanium and Inconel exhaust aerostructures. • Create and maintain simulation routines to check cutter paths for various NC machines utilizing Vericut V9 or later. • Perform root cause analysis and problem solving to improve machining related issues. • Responsible for implementing corrective action or countermeasures to prevent recurrence. Qualifications You Must Have • Must possess at least a bachelor's degree through a foreign degree, a combination of work experience and foreign degree and/or prior work experience and at least 5 years of experience as a CNC Programmer or a related role. In the alternative, at least the equivalent to a U.S. master's degree through a foreign degree, a combination of work experience and foreign degree and/or prior work experience and at least three years of experience as a CNC Programmer would be acceptable. • Must possess at least 3 years of experience in an aerospace environment using CATIA V5 R19+ CAD/CAM and Vericut 9.1+ applications, to create part geometry and generate cutter paths from CATIA V5 Solid 3D CAD models (model-based definition). • Must possess at least 3 years of experience in machining or in direct support of machining operations, such as a Manufacturing Engineer or CNC Programmer, for the machining of titanium or nickel alloy honeycomb structures and/or aluminum honeycomb utilizing 5-axis machining methods. • Must possess at least 3 years of experience with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) requirements of AMSE Y14.5; specifically dimensional inspection methods/techniques used to verify parts and tool geometry and create part features compliant to these requirements. • Must possess at least 3 years of experience using machine probing systems for set-up verification or mistake proof actions to catch errors and for collecting and analyzing machining related data to monitor equipment and operations to allow for pre-emptive actions. • Non-US Person - Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without the company’s immigration sponsorship now or in the future.
