What you’ll be contributing: • Promote and follow all plant safety guidelines. • Inspect plant process machinery and provide recommendations for repair. • Install & repair plant process machinery and provide detailed written description of work performed. • Operate equipment such as boom-lifts, cranes, forklifts, and other related mobile equipment. • Provide scope of work, parts requirements, and equipment requirements for repairs during both scheduled and unscheduled mill and kiln outages. • Perform other duties and special projects as required. To succeed in this position, you will need: • High school graduation or equivalent is required • Ability to read, write and understand warning labels, instructions, signs, etc. • Willingness to learn, training will be provided • Some college courses preferred. • Minimum of 2 years of experience with heavy processing equipment • Minimum of 2 years of experience in Mineral Processing industry preferred • Minimum of 6 months of experience in a cement plant or similar heavy industry setting • Must have knowledge of pneumatic, hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems. • Ability to repair and rebuild plant equipment with little supervision: motors, gearboxes, conveyer belts, viz. fans, blowers, pumps, elevators, crusher, clinker cooler, kiln, compressors, reclaimers, ball mills, vertical roller mills, air slides, gates, valves, coal mills, rail and truck loading equipment, air separators, FK pumps, air cannons, etc. • Ability to reason through difficult operations/maintenance problems, resolve said problems and/or relate same to others. • Must be able to exhitibit competence in shielded arc welding, flam cutting, measuring devices, hand and power tools, gauge reading, mechanical assembly, vibration measurement, non-destructive testing • Knowledge of storeroom, CMMS, email/cell phone usage, basic housekeeping/cleanup and tool room procedures • Ability to determine equipment conditions by visual observation and listening to its operation. What to expect in a cement environment: Work to be performed in a shop environment as well as outdoor exposure throughout the plant. Mild exposure to cement dust, heat, cold, and noise requires compliance with specified safety guidelines and procedures. Exposure to high elevations of up to 250 feet in height. Lifting up to 50 pounds. Exposure to all weather conditions. Normal operation of mobile equipment may result in jarring and vibratory exposure. What’s next for you? A Mechanic B is expected to be able to perform all functions of a Mechanic C including the below expectations. RESPONSIBILITIES & EXPECTATIONS: Maintenance • Perform inspections, repairs, and rebuilds on all plant operating equipment. • Conducts accurate PMs. • Must be able to troubleshoot, service and repair all plant operating equipment. • Must be able to disassemble and rebuild all types of crushing, screening, and conveying equipment. • Understand the installation and maintenance of all types of bearings. • Perform shaft alignments using precision tools. • Knowledge of pneumatic systems. • Able to use equipment manuals, parts lists or blueprints to properly install, repair, or order parts. • Process knowledge of the CMMS System to ensure that work orders and checklists are complete accurately. Inventory • Ensure all inventory parts are correctly charged from store • Ensure all parts are available before starting job. Safety • Must be well versed on all aspects of safety. • Comply with company, state, and governmental health and safety regulations at all times. • Complete and document Workplace Inspections in a timely manner. • Ensure maintenance tools are kept in good condition, repaired or replaced when necessary. Training • Upgrade skills by participating in vendor and company-designated training. • Train on any new equipment installations. ATTRIBUTES: • Proficient knowledge of mechanical, hydraulics and pneumatics to assist in troubleshooting equipment failures. • Industrial background with good troubleshooting skills. • Working knowledge of mechanical equipment in an industrial plant is required. • Read and understand one-line diagrams & schematics. • Previous experience operating heavy equipment is desired. • Perform basic mathematical calculations is required. • Must have a telephone and be open to callouts. • Must be able to work extended shift to complete repairs and keep major and critical equipment running. • Effectively communicate and interact with supervisors, managers, and peers. • Demonstrate the ability to operate a computer preferred. • Must have a valid Texas driver’s license. • Self-Starter and able to work with minimal supervision PHYSICAL DEMANDS INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO: • Tolerate working outside in severe weather conditions as well as exposure to industrial high temperature, noise and dust. • Access all areas within a site which could include heights of 120 feet, confined spaces, climbing ladders or stairs, and accessing tunnels. • Ability to occasionally lift/carry 50 pounds. • Work shift work, seven days a week including holidays and be flexible to schedule changes, including overtime.
