Due to the continued growth and expansion of our business, we are seeking qualified candidates for the position of Mechanical Engineer based in our Port Lavaca, Texas office. Work can be remote, if desired, with visits onsite at client locations, as needed. Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following: • Read, interpret, and approve engineering drawings and specifications (under the guidance of a PE if not licensed). • Engineering support for assigned projects for Mechanical discipline with ability to work independently. • Design pressure vessel modifications, complete pipe stress analysis, and some process design. • Knowledge of mechanical equipment and systems, applicable codes, and standards to ensure the most effective design is in compliance with Safety and Loss Prevention principles, industry standards and local codes and regulations. • Performing mechanical equipment specification and procurement for rotating equipment, process containment equipment, piping systems, and skids units. • Providing estimates of work to be performed. Qualifications and Requirements: • BS Mechanical Engineering. • Knowledge in Production and Processing of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for effective manufacture and distribution of goods. • Team player able to work effectively with other disciplines. • Excellent written/verbal communication skills are a must. • Comfortable with fast-paced work environment. Quick learner. • Excellent problem-solving skills and documentation/procedural skills. • Strong mechanical aptitude. • Safety and detail focused. • Strong business acumen and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams. • High ethical standards, integrity, and a commitment to maintaining confidentiality. Job Description: • Responsible for the estimation of all costs of projects, including raw materials, labor, equipment, tools, and transportation. • Researching the materials, sourcing options, labor, and permit costs for a given project. • Responsible for the collection, classification, and analysis of historical data. • May be required to read blueprints or architectural drawings to determine necessary resources for projects within budgetary constraints. • Helps determine necessary resources for projects based on cost estimates and budgetary constraints. • Perform bid sheet preparation (Excel), solicit subcontractor proposals and advertisements as needed, take-offs, and attend pre-bid walks. • Identify qualified subcontractors/suppliers. • Review quotes for completeness with plans and specifications • Assist with timely completion of all client-required prequal packages • Review subcontractor proposals before contract issuance for complete work scopes. • Assist field personnel with estimating Change Orders, RFPs, and clarification of RFIs. • Assist with the preparation of budgets and buy-outs. Requirements • Experience in the mechanical field (10+ years preferred) • Ability to perform basic to advanced mathematics required for estimating • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and/or engineering design drawings • Ability to learn and easily be trained on the Estimating Model • Experience in excel and word • Must have computer experience • Must be able to pass a hair follicle drug test • Some sites may require a TWIC card • Climbing multiple flights of stairs without assistance • Work Setting • Primarily indoors with environmental controls. • Some job walks on client sites may be required.
