Mechanical Maintenance Technician

Description Summary This position is responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, and performing preventative maintenance in a fast-paced manufacturing/packaging environment. Maintenance of pumps and electric motors such as bearing and seal replacements, alignments, couplings, sumps, fans, drain piping modifications, etc. Must review procedures as necessary to ensure compliance of all company and industry standards to meet all regulatory agency requirements. Maintenance on other mechanical equipment such as solenoid valves, control valves, air compressors, valve actuators, etc. Must maintain and repair lifting equipment, conveyors, and associated components. Must replace pumps, motors, valves, and other equipment as needed, including foundation work, initial alignment, testing, and start-up. Must properly complete records of time and required regulatory reports. Must maintain close contact with the Planner/Supervisor regarding maintenance trouble reports and scheduled equipment maintenance to affect a minimum interruption of product throughput. Ability to optimize work to affect a minimal amount of overtime. Must participate in available cross training to effectively develop skills in areas specific to other technicians. Must utilize precision tools and test equipment as needed. Must perform regulatory required inspections. Trains and guides others to learn duties of Mechanical Technician. Must perform any other job duties as directed by the Maintenance Manager/Supervisor. Must be able to effectively communicate in English (speak, read, and write). Must be able to distinguish between various wiring colors. Qualification and Experience A minimum of a high school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent is required. Technical certification or equivalent training in a mechanical environment or energy related field is preferred. A minimum of 5+ years mechanical maintenance experience is required. Strong mechanical aptitude with advanced troubleshooting and maintenance skills is required. Experience in maintenance and repair of packaging equipment and associated components is required. Ability to read and understand, analyze, and interpret documents, equipment repair manuals, reports and federal, state, and local codes and regulations. The ability to perform mathematical calculations, such as, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical solutions is required. Basic computer skills such as: opening, creating, and updating content in MS Word documents and Excel spreadsheets is required. Must have the ability to effectively communicate, both verbally and in writing, with other individuals, teams, customers, and stakeholders of the business, at various levels of the organization, in a business-like and professional manner is required. Must have the ability to demonstrate conscientiousness, dependability, and commitment to the role, team, and company.
