Mechanical Maintenance Technician - Plant

Job Summary: The Maintenance Mechanical Technician will perform routine skilled mechanical maintenance functions to ensure the reliability of all the equipment, machinery, and parts used onsite at the chemical manufacturing plant. Install new equipment, inspect and repair rotating and permanent equipment, troubleshoot machinery, replace parts, anticipate and diagnose maintenance issues outside and inside the 24/7 chemical manufacturing plant in Baytown. Local candidates only. Key Duties and Responsibilities : Install, inspect, calibrate, and perform routine maintenance on the machinery, critical equipment, and mechanical operating systems onsite at the chemical plant to avoid disruption and optimize the performance of the asset as well as production. Repair and replace rotating and fixed equipment, parts, and components used onsite for a 24/7 continuous chemical manufacturing plant. Lubricate parts and clean components used for blasting and painting as well as assemble and install new equipment required onsite. Implement preventative and predictive maintenance measures to avoid potential issues, down time, and malfunctions. Comply with all environmental, health and safety policies and procedures, recognize and avoid safety hazards to mitigate risk and enhance company culture of safety. Accurately document repair time, parts usage, and related information required to close out work orders in the eMaint system. Comply with preventative maintenance procedures to minimize down time, accurately complete maintenance reports daily, and champion maintenance best practices to drive efficiency. Clean and maintain equipment, champion a clean and safe work environment in and around the asset, the warehouse area, and the control room. Perform root cause failure analysis and communicate findings to the Superintendent, consistently share candid feedback about maintenance issues and repairs in a timely manner. Comply with all environmental, health and safety related best practices, policies, and procedures, including process safety management (PSM). Diligently adhere to and fulfill all Responsible Care® requirements, demonstrate a steadfast commitment to safety, environmental stewardship, and ethical practices in all aspects of your position within the organization. What We Require: Ability to understand and operate the systems and critical equipment used at the plant; perform and analyze various system checks. Proficiency in MS Office Suite and Teams. Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, electrical and equipment drawings, schematics, safety procedures, including federal and state OSHA guidelines. Ability to demonstrate safety when using hand power tools commonly used in plant maintenance tasks. Strong understanding of properties, behaviors, and the hazards of tools and critical equipment used in chemical manufacturing processes. Good organizational skills with the ability to work independently and act with a sense of urgency to meet deadlines. Three years or more of mechanical maintenance experience in a related role in a 24/7 continuous chemical manufacturing plant or refinery work environment. Previous industrial and mechanical maintenance expertise required. High school diploma or GED equivalent.
