Mechanical Design Engineer (Aerospace/Industrial Sensor Design) Our facility in Round Rock, TX is hiring! We are looking for a Sr Design Engineer to join our team. The primary role of this position is to provide engineering support to the design and development of temperature and pressure sensors and related hardware for use in the global Aerospace industry. You will participate in partnered relationships and projects involving mechanical engineering design and component integration, together with providing technical leadership and assisting with project management for assigned projects throughout the entire life cycle from initial concept through successful completion. Location: Round Rock, TX (onsite) Your Challenge: • Create solutions and solve mechanical engineering problems with respect to design, manufacturing, testing and inspection. • Complete assigned projects in accordance with requirements, within schedule and within budget limitations. • Support, plan and estimate requirements for labor, materials, and time required to complete project in support of sales proposals and project management activities. • Capture and manage requirements associated with assigned projects. • Perform product design, modelling, analyses, and create associated manufacturing documentation. • Write detailed technical documents on the design and manufacturing of our products. • Be ‘Pre-emptive’ in risk management. • Perform independent design reviews and assist the team in problem solving. • Interact with: Project Management, Engineers, Customers, Suppliers, Operations and Materials, Quality Assurance, and Management at all levels. • Support design qualification, testing and qualification analyses of new designs. • Travel occasionally to external test labs or customer sites to support testing, troubleshooting, and training activities. • Carry out other duties as reasonably required by management. What You Bring: • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET - accredited institution, or equivalent Engineering degree in adjacent discipline with requisite design skills and experience. • Minimum of 5+ years of engineering experience in Aerospace or Industrial engineering design. • Possess knowledge and understanding of engineering fundamentals, processes, standards, procedures, tools, and systems to be applied in carrying out assigned engineering tasks. • Understanding of how to design within regulatory standards such as ISO9001 and AS9100. • Ability to create design drawings using SolidWorks 3D CAD. • Ability to generate technical documentation (i.e. requirements, procurement, testing, qualification analyses, manufacturing, inspection, test, reports) using MS Office and Math CAD. • Drive for results with ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. • Experience in using an ERP system (Syteline Preferred) to create items, bills of manufacturing, release job orders, execute engineering change notices, disposition Nonconformances and respond to corrective actions. • Live the “continuous improvement” philosophy; develops and adopts new ideas and concepts. • Possess a working knowledge of machining, welding, brazing, and soldering processes is preferred • Be trained and knowledgeable of GD&T per ASME Y14.5M is preferred.
