Lead Mechanical Designer

Job Title: Lead Mechanical Designer (AutoCAD Plant 3D) Location: Hybrid - Greater Midland, TX or Houston, TX Reports To: Director of Innovation About the Role We are seeking a highly skilled Lead Mechanical Designer with strong expertise in AutoCAD Plant 3D to support the design and development of oil & gas skids. This position will lead design efforts, ensure compliance with industry standards, and deliver high-quality 3D models and fabrication drawings for complex skid assemblies. Primary Responsibilities • Develop 3D models, P&ID, GA, BOM, and ISO drawings for various oil & gas skid packages using AutoCAD Plant 3D and Inventor. • Create and maintain Bill of Materials (BOM) and ensure accurate part attribute connections to the Dynamics ERP system. • Collaborate with project managers and cross-functional teams to ensure design accuracy and compliance with ASME and API standards. • Maintain Plant 3D master project files, specs, and catalogs. • Support design handoff and review processes, ensuring quality and adherence to project timelines. • Assist fabrication teams by reviewing and modifying designs for improved manufacturability. Qualifications • High School Diploma or equivalent. • 6+ years of mechanical design experience for oil & gas projects using AutoCAD Plant 3D. • Familiarity with P&ID development, skid layout & structural design, ISO/Weld maps. • Strong understanding of ASME & API standards and skid design principles. • Excellent communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills. • Ability to manage multiple projects and mentor junior designers. Preferred Qualifications • Experience with parametric and rules-based design workflows. • Proficiency with AutoCAD Spec Editor and project setup. • Familiarity with LACT, VRU, Gas Meter Run, and Pipeline Measurement skid design. Additional Responsibilities • Standard 8-5 onsite work schedule with occasional extended hours as needed. • Gather all necessary information to complete assigned tasks. • Review drawings for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with specifications. • Revise drawings and markups as needed. • Participate in project meetings and customer conference calls. • Adhere to all applicable safety procedures and protocols. • Perform other duties as assigned.
