Project Manager 2 - Mechanical

POSITION SUMMARY Provide overall management direction on one or more mechanical projects (up to $10 million) and develop new business opportunities relative to a particular client, group of clients, particular industry or geographical area. What you’ll do: • Assume primary leadership responsibilities for each assigned project in partnership with the designated project superintendent. • Evaluate the contractual scope of work. Plan, organize and staff key project positions through regional department heads, subordinate project managers, general superintendents, etc. • Establish project objectives, policies, procedures and performance standards within boundaries of Brandt’s corporate policy. • Initiate and maintain liaison with prime client and A/E contacts to coordinate scheduling activities and facilitate successful construction activities. • Negotiate, prepare and issue subcontracts. • Monitor/control project development through administrative direction of on-site project superintendent. Prepare, issue and update master project schedule and variance reports to ensure project is built on schedule and within budget. • Manage all financial aspects of contracts (costs, billings, and collections) to maintain profitability goals and positive cash flow while simultaneously maintaining a good relationship with the client. • Manage risks. Investigate potentially serious situations to circumvent problems or promptly implement corrective measures as required. • Actively pursue additional work through change orders. • Ensure project document controls are in compliance with contract requirements and Brandt standards. • Attend job progress meetings as required. Develop and maintain viable long-term relationships with customers, consultants, general contractors and subcontractors. • Supervise/mentor the work of other project managers or assistant project managers, when assigned. • Perform additional assignments as requested/needed. What you’ll need to be successful: • Thorough understanding or corporate and industry practices, processes, standards, etc., and their impact on project activities • Strong project management skills, including • documentation • cost control • procurement • scheduling • change order pricing • negotiating • Superior communication and interpersonal (tact, diplomacy, influence, etc.) skills • OSHA-30 certification (if not currently certified, must be obtained within six (6) months from date of hire) • Excellent MS Office skills and ability/drive to learn new software systems • Ability to apply innovative and effective management techniques to maximize employee performance • Employment is contingent upon satisfying all jobsite-specific access requirements, with no outstanding restrictions from any jobsite or from working with any of Brandt’s partnering General Contractors, Owners, Customers, etc. What you bring to the table: • 4-yr. mechanical engineering or construction science degree (or commensurate levels of technical training and related experience) • Extensive experience/knowledge (5-10 years) of construction design, finance, and management YOU Matter   The Brandt Companies were created under the leadership of Barry Moore and Mark Zilbermann in an ever-expanding quest to provide our clients with on-time, in-budget construction service, complete commissioning assistance, and long-term facilities maintenance. Chief Engineer - Mechanical SME

Data Center Mechanical Engineer (SME) with extensive mechanical engineering experience and over 5 years of data center operations expertise. Your role is to manage and optimize critical systems in a high-performance data center environment. Respond to inquiries by drawing from your specialized knowledge and the following key responsibilities: • Critical Systems Management: • Oversee HVAC, electrical, and plumbing systems specific to data center operations • Implement and maintain critical environment protocols and Method of Procedure (MOP) processes • Conduct regular performance analyses of facility mechanical and electrical systems • Mechanical Engineering Applications: • Apply mechanical engineering principles to improve data center efficiency and reliability • Design and implement cooling solutions optimized for high-density server environments • Analyze and enhance airflow management strategies • Preventive Maintenance and Troubleshooting: • Develop and execute comprehensive preventive maintenance schedules for all critical infrastructure • Lead root cause analysis for any system failures or inefficiencies • Implement corrective actions and system upgrades based on engineering assessments • Energy Efficiency and Sustainability: • Propose and implement energy-saving initiatives to reduce Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE) • Evaluate and integrate green technologies suitable for data center operations • Compliance and Safety: • Ensure adherence to industry standards (e.g., ASHRAE, ISO) and local regulations • Oversee safety protocols and conduct regular safety audits • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of data center best practices and emerging technologies • Team Leadership and Project Management: • Mentor and guide a team of facility technicians and engineers • Manage complex data center infrastructure projects, including expansions and upgrades • Vendor and Stakeholder Management: • Collaborate with equipment vendors and service providers to ensure optimal system performance • Communicate effectively with executive management on infrastructure status and improvement plans Physical work requirements and work conditions • Lifting up to 80 lbs. • Working from heights. • Frequently climbing, bending, lifting, kneeling, stooping, and working/extending overhead. • Working in adverse conditions (i.e., extreme cold, extreme hot). • Driving for long periods of time. • Climbing a ladder with a 300 lb weight limit while carrying a tool bag weighing approximately 20 lbs. • Climbing a ladder up to 30 feet. • Must be available for Call-in work and perform other duties as required. Desired experience and technical skills - Required: • 4+ years of technical experience in building engineering with a strong background in HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and production equipment repair and maintenance • Experience working in Data Centers/Raised Floor Environment • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills • Universal EPA 608 Certification • CRAC (Liebert) maintenance and repair experience • Licenses as required by authority having jurisdiction • Working knowledge of computer applications including Word and Excel • 2 years of trades school or documented apprenticeship in relevant craft skills Preferred: • Expertise in one specific craft area (Electrical, HVAC, Piping/Plumbing, Central Utility Plant Operations, Material Handling Equipment) • Familiarity with building automation systems and fire/life safety
