Mechanical Engineer

Basic Qualifications Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, or a related Science, Engineering or Mathematics field. Also requires 2+ years of job-related experience or a Master's degree. Agile experience preferred. CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS: Ability to obtain a Department of Defense Secret security clearance is required at time of hire. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required. Responsibilities for this Position ROLE AND POSITION OBJECTIVES: General Dynamics Mission Systems has an immediate opening for an Advanced Mechanical Engineer. This position provides an opportunity to further advance the cutting-edge technology that supports some of our nation’s core defense/intelligence services and systems. About our group: To address the rising global demand in data usage and storage, Seagate pushes the forefront of memory storage by engineering new technologies to achieve unparallel storage density in next-generation Hard Disk Drives (HDDs). Our design team leads the modelling and development efforts for device performance and reliability using mechanically driven solutions at the micro- and nanoscale. We focus on invention, design, and demonstration of technologies for future data storage devices. About the role - you will: • Utilize advanced modeling techniques, machine learning, design-of-experiments, and statistical analysis techniques to develop fundamental understanding of interface mechanical performance and apply that understanding to guide new design directions. • Work with advanced development and product development teams in the areas of mechanical design, microscale tribology, materials development and performance, surface chemistry, thin film mechanics, surface process development, and magnetic recording. • Develop experience in the process of taking a nanoscale design concept from modeling through wafer fabrication, test, and evaluation, to pre-production stages in a work environment that is dynamic and cross-functional. • Work with magnetic, plasmonic, mechanical, and optical design teams to deliver advanced Heat-Assisted Magnetic Recording technologies. • Have a direct impact on the technology development pipeline for future data storage devices. Senior Mechanical Engineer

Senior Mechanical Engineer - Bloomington, MN Job Summary: The Senior Mechanical Engineer serves to work in a fast-paced multi-discipline team environment. The position responsibilities primarily are focused on the design of mechanical systems for new facilities, additions, and renovation projects. This will require providing technical leadership for the creation of construction drawings and specifications, existing system studies and master planning efforts. Qualified candidates will meet with clients, project teams, code officials, contractors, and others to address mechanical issues to develop effective working relationships. Responsibilities: • Develop HVAC and plumbing system designs of a given project based on scope of work and/or client RFPs • Provide engineering design, evaluation, and planning of mechanical systems for a variety of building types • Perform Load/Energy calculations with software such as Trace 700/3D, IES and similar programs • Conduct existing building surveys and documentation of existing HVAC systems • Develop system design calculations and selection of equipment for use in buildings • Write/edit project specifications • Prepare detailed design documents, reports, and studies • Complete code compliance research • Coordinate work with other disciplines • Provide construction administration services • Perform QA/QC of design work • Oversee and provide guidance to junior engineers • Lead project teams and serve as the primary contact for clients • Assist in the procurement of new work, including the development of client relations and participation in project interview • Ability to lead a team and work as a team • Proficiency in Auto CAD, Revit, and MS Office Qualifications and Experience: • You have a minimum of 8 years' design experience as registered engineer. • You have a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or a related field. • You possess a Professional Engineer license, PE. • You have experience with complex institutional projects. • You have LEED experience, certification is desired. • You are familiar with codes, standards and design guidelines. • Excellent work ethic and attitude. • Interpersonal communication skills, combined with organizational skills, the ability to plan, balance and prioritize work. • Ability to mentor/lead a team as well as work as part of a team. • Proficient in Revit and MS Office. Travel: 10% Compensation & Benefits: The expected base salary range for this role is $90,000 - $120,000 USD per year. Actual compensation will be determined based on a number of factors including skills, experience, qualifications, and location.
