Machine Mechanic

Key Responsibilities: • Perform routine and preventative maintenance on knitting machines. • Complete style changes and machine set ups according to specification sheets. • Repair/replace machine parts as required. • Perform any quality related measurements or checks as required. • Record machine down time with Supervisor. • Assist Knitters to keep machines running. • Ensure machines are producing first quality fabric. • Maintain yarn tensions utilizing various feeders to ensure consistent fabric appearance. • Understand yarn counts and types. • Provide reports on spare parts, broken items, and any issues concerning production. • Record defect repairs on knitting production ticket. • Follow all safety procedures/policies and advise management of any unsafe conditions. • Keep work area neat and clean. Qualifications: • Any combination of education and experience equivalent to a High School Diploma or GED. • At least two years of experience in a mechanical maintenance position. • Familiarity with knitting machines is preferred. About You The person we are looking for is responsible for all aspects of manufacturing processes including equipment specification, layout design, quality, and efficiency. Responsible for developing procedures to reduce all risks to ALARA while improving safety, quality, and productivity. Provides instruction and technical support to manufacturing plants and aid in improving the coordination and collaboration between departments and teams. Ensures consistent application of all processes across the various manufacturing plants. Position Snapshot To be successful in this role you will: • Develops techniques, procedures, and application of equipment utilizing knowledge of production specifications, material properties, and engineering principles. • Develops and maintains standardized operating procedures and provide necessary training for operators and maintenance personnel. • Directs and coordinates inspections to ensure workers' compliance with established welding procedures, and standards. • Conducts research and development investigations to develop and test new equipment, processes and procedures. • Consults with equipment suppliers to determine appropriate equipment and specifications. • Performs process analysis for cost reduction and quality, efficiency and yield improvement. • Demonstrates leadership of Lean/Continuous Improvement. Requirements and Education: • A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering. (An Associate’s degree and extensive experience may be considered.) • Experience working directly within manufacturing processes and equipment. • Strong communication skills (both verbal and written) are required to effectively communicate throughout the organization. • Data driven problem solving approach including root cause analysis. • Solid understanding of Lean Principles. • Working knowledge of Microsoft applications and CAD.
