Senior Mechanical Engineer

Position Overview: CMTA, a Legence company, is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer with 7+ years of experience in consulting engineering. In this role, you will collaborate with a team of engineers to design energy-efficient mechanical systems for buildings across various industries. We're looking for a self-motivated professional with a strong technical background who enjoys working directly with clients and contributing to all phases of a project. Key Responsibilities: Design HVAC and mechanical systems for energy-efficient buildings. Manage projects from conception to completion, ensuring compliance with engineering standards. Attend meetings with clients, owners, and architects to develop project requirements. Provide guidance to staff engineers on best practices for energy-efficient design. Review contractor submittals (shop drawings, specifications) for compliance with contract documents. Evaluate, select, and apply engineering techniques and procedures for project tasks. Research and analyze customer design proposals, manuals, and standards to determine feasibility, cost, and maintenance requirements. Specify system components or modify designs to meet engineering and performance specifications. Collaborate with engineers and project personnel to resolve design issues and provide technical expertise. Provide mentoring and leadership to less experienced staff and provide technical reviews of co-workers projects. Desired Experience: Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Architectural Engineering required 7+ years of experience as a Mechanical Engineer designing HVAC systems in consulting engineering. EIT certification or PE preferred. Strong experience with MEP design and HVAC systems. Proficiency in Revit. Experience in project management and direct client interactions. Preferred Skills: Expertise energy-efficient design, and sustainable building practices. Knowledge of construction processes and submittal reviews. This position coordinates projects with necessary departments and communicates product designs. Providing product training and support in the field as required. Principal Duties & Responsibilities: • Plan, design, model, and prepare drawings and documentation for new and revised products. • Utilize technical knowledge when designing and modifying products to insure they are cost efficient and maximize profit margins. • Coordinate and oversee outsourced design projects. • Responsible for compliance to playground standards and programs: IPEMA, CPSC, ASTM, CSA, and EN. • Responsible for managing and reporting on project schedules to ensure timely and effective completion. • Sets up and performs R&D testing of parts. • Completes project proposals in 2d and 3d utilizing SolidWorks, AutoCAD or other software as necessary. • Each proposal includes layout design and anchoring design recommendations in a prepared presentation, as required. • Create and maintain installation instructions and user guides. • Enter data in the ERP system Syteline: BOM's, labour routings, and determine product cost. • ISO validation of new and revised parts. Preferred Qualifications: • Related bachelor’s degree such as a BS in Engineering from an accredited four-year college or university is preferred; or two to four years related work experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and professional work experience. • Experience in Value Engineering, including SAVE International certifications, is a plus. • E.I.T. or another professional competency preferred. • Experience in product development and working knowledge of an APQP design strategy preferred. • To perform this job successfully, an individual should be proficient in Microsoft Office Programs; expert knowledge of SolidWorks is required. Knowledge of SyteLine ERP or similar ERP systems is a plus. Reasoning Ability: • Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems. • Ability to deal with nonverbal symbolism (formulas, scientific equations, graphs, musical notes, etc.,) in its most difficult phases. • Ability to deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables.
