Project Engineer

We are seeking an experienced Project Engineer for our First Quality facility located in Lewistown, PA. This position is responsible for the specification, selection, purchase, installation, and startup support of major capital projects, to improve efficiencies, quality or expand the manufacturing operation. Principal Accountabilities/ Responsibilities: • Prepares timelines, schedules, and coordinates multiple disciplines to meet required schedules. • Prepares equipment/line proposals, installations, startups, and validations. • Analyzes trend data, troubleshoots process problems. • Observes all safety rules and uses the proper safety equipment at all times. • Performs other duties as necessary when directed to do so. • Follows necessary GMP, FDA, and ISO regulations. • Standard knowledge of high speed manufacturing equipment. • Standard knowledge in material handling concepts, material flow concepts, and plant layout. • Standard knowledge of cost accounting principles. • Excellent oral and written communication skills. • Ability to identify machine, material and/or process improvements and implementation solutions. • Ability to teach/train operating personnel and write procedures/manuals. Education and experience requirements: • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field. • Minimum five years experience in manufacturing environment. • High speed, high volume production machinery experience is preferred. • Maintenance background preferred. Product Engineer

Responsible for applying mechanical engineering principles in the testing, certification and product development process from concept ideation, design, prototype, testing, and commissioning to final production. Participate in a cross-functional Team that owns the action plan to deliver commercial products. • Leading and participating in ideation workshops and other cross-functional team workshops intended to develop concept, define design priorities, and determine design performance objectives or goals. • Develop calculation and analysis of design to comply to specific requirements, as defined by building codes and industry standards. • Develop both development and certification testing plans to certify that designs follow requirements, as defined by building codes and industry standards. • Develop new mechanical systems and components utilizing parametric 3D CAD software. • Perform thorough dimensional and tolerance analysis from concept phase to final release of new or redesigned products. • Analyze mechanical systems' stress, fatigue and vibration utilizing finite element analysis and other accepted engineering methods. • Develop procedures to validate and test mechanical systems and components, verifying compliance to performance or specification goals. • Develop complete design drawings, BOMs, and mechanical specifications for manufacturing and supply chain. • Direct and coordinate fabrications and installation activities to ensure products and systems conform to engineering design and customer specifications. • Design products to interface with machines, hardware, and software. • 5+ years of mechanical engineering design & development experience; should include knowledge of manufacturing environment, preferably in consumer durable or packaged goods. • Extensive knowledge in engineering mechanical systems, sheet-metal, weldments and commercial equipment. • Knowledge of mechanical engineering and product development principles and practices. • Ability to creating 3-D models, assemblies and drawings. SolidWorks skills a plus. • Knowledge of design analysis utilizing finite element analysis, proficiency preferred. • Computer literate in MS Office products, including Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel and Word • Strong written and oral presentation and technical communication skills – for both internal groups as well as clients and trade groups/ seminars • Flexibility and adaptability • Action and results oriented Education Requirements • Must have bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a closely related Engineering discipline. Physical/Work Environment Requirements • Normal office environment. • Moderate travel <20% • Laboratory testing environment. • Production environment, when applicable. • Some field exposure possible
