Our Controls Engineer develops and programs custom automated equipment and provides technical support to external and internal customers. They analyze project requirements and perform technical calculations to support design, including electrical requirements, robotic safety standards, PLC, and servo controls. Your Role • Meets with Mechanical Engineers, customers, and DT Engineering management to discuss the design and function of the customer machine. • Development of controls architecture for medium single module machines or assist on large multi-module machines. • Program control systems for servo, robotic and air operated stations, along with test and electrical devices with minimum assistance. • Ensure the electrical design is functional, robust, and cost effective. • Travels to customer site as needed for install or service (10%). • Maintain project scope and identify scope creep. • Guide electrical technicians in wiring and codes. Support software validation requirements. • Create electrical wiring schematics, flow diagrams, panel layouts, Bill of Materials, organize release packages, and update schematics with minimum support. • Problem solve with automation technicians, debug software issues, and update all appropriate documentation. POSITION SUMMARY We have an exciting opportunity open for a Manager of Engineering, with the ability to work hybrid in Lebanon, Mountain Grove or Branson, MO. Manages a team that is responsible for providing engineering design, project management, permitting, right-of-way acquisition, and assisting construction management for the purpose of constructing and/or modifying natural gas transmission pipelines, distribution systems, facilities and appurtenances for Colorado Natural Gas and Summit Natural Gas of Missouri. PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES • Responsible for building an engineering team and conducting management responsibilities in accordance with the Company’s policies and applicable laws pertaining to hiring; determining department procedures; assigning and directing work; providing training; appraising performance; rewarding and providing positive corrective action when needed; resolving employee issues; providing input for and administering department budget. • Utilizes the application of extensive and diversified knowledge of engineering practices to plan, schedule, conduct, and coordinate development of the engineering work for all design, modification, and/or construction of natural gas transmission pipelines, distribution systems, and related appurtenances. • Responsible for preparation, evaluation and approval of engineering drawings, details, construction specifications, contract and bid documents, and contractor procurement, including selection and coordination with consulting engineers and vendors. • Meets with general public and/or developers, landowners, interest groups, and regulatory bodies concerning zoning, expansion projects, and engineering regulations, etc. • Accountable for the successful implementation and completion of engineering objectives in construction projects by managing project issues, budgets and schedules requiring numerous interactions with consulting firms, construction contractors, government officials, and other departments within the Company. • Responsible for project status reports to Summit management team. Performs occasional field work to perform construction inspection for compliance with company standards. • Work closely with construction, procurement, outside consultants, and contractors to define the detailed project scope of work; and the goals and deliverables that support the company’s business objectives. • Ensure the proper planning of all capital and maintenance construction projects. • Support overall project performance (quality, scope, schedule, cost, communication, resource issues & risks). • Manage long-term asset planning to support growth and system reliability through collaboration with Business Development and Operations and performing hydraulic model analysis. • Provide all required engineering support to facilitate the safe and reliable operation of natural gas transmission and distribution systems. • Participate in national level initiatives to lend engineering support to enhance and streamline processes and systems. POSITION QUALIFICATIONS EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE • Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) in Mechanical, Civil, or Electrical Engineering • Minimum of five years of engineering experience involving pipeline design, project management, and construction administration. • Certification as a registered Professional Engineer, preferably in Missouri and/or Colorado KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES • Strong leadership and management skills demonstrated by using appropriate interpersonal styles and methods to guide individuals or groups toward goal achievement. • Ability to make decisions independently on engineering problems and methods. • Project Management knowledge and skills exhibited by the ability to proficiently develop and complete a design plan while having the adaptability to make appropriate changes when required. Excellent organizational and planning skills required with demonstrated quality and thoroughness on each assignment. • Exhibit a high level of attention to detail in all facets of work. • Advanced engineering knowledge including exceptional mathematical proficiency; expert computer skills in working with word processing, spreadsheet programs, and CAD/modeling software. • Polished interpersonal/communication skills including outstanding verbal skills exhibited in meetings, one-on-one exchanges, and presentations.
