Utility Mechanical Maintenance

Overview Job Summary The successful bidder will perform work assisting all mechanical trades providing skilled and semiskilled mechanical labor including sheet metal work, fabrication of structural steel, reinforcing steel, etc., all types of concrete work, building and general maintenance work pertaining to steam and chilled water distribution systems. This is a bargaining union position and a member of the Local #1400IBEW. Wage scale $40.47/HR10 $36.33/U10 per hour. Work Schedule: M-F 7:30am-4pm Reporting Location: Perry K Steam Plant Hiring Manager: Del Morris Responsibilities • Assisting the mechanical trades, welders, millwrights, steam, and chilled water distribution etc., in the performance of their work. • Fabricating structural, reinforcing steel, anchor bolts, etc., sheet metal work including carpentry work and removing, repairing, replacing, and installing heat insulating materials on piping and equipment. • Excavating, backfilling, placing reinforcing steel, concrete, cement finishing, and masonry types of work. • Knowledge of expansion joints, condensate traps, pressure reducing valves and various types of valves and fittings on steam and chilled water systems. • Excavating, backfilling, replacing, and installing new pipe, valves, fittings, expansion joints, insulation, etc., on steam and chilled water lines. • Assisting the personnel in the steam and chilled water plants, and other departments in the performance of any work assigned. • Coordinate activities with other employees to provide maximum safety and efficiency. • Must be able to read and understand blueprints and drawings of various distribution systems. • Rigging, building scaffolding, trenching, shoring, and directing crane operations, as required. • Inspecting, dismantling, installing, replacing, cleaning, lubricating, packing, drilling, grinding, sawing, removing and setting of mechanical equipment related to but not limited to steam and chilled water distribution systems. • Operating all types of stationary and heavy equipment such as cranes, hoists, backhoes, and large trucks. • Keeping work areas, assigned company truck, and associated equipment in good order and cleaning up after completion of work. Qualifications • Must pass Crane Operator Certification training within two attempts after receiving operator training from a certified training provider. • A valid State of Indiana driver’s license is required. • Outdoor work is required in various types of weather, dirt, noise and fumes. • Confined space entry is required in high temperature atmosphere at times • Required to participate as a member of the Confined Space Rescue Team in the Steam Distribution area • In addition to the primary duties listed above, the employee may be called upon to perform other work, including the ability to work overtime as circumstances require. • Must know and comply with all Company safety and health policies and procedures applicable to work performance. • Available for twenty-four-hour repair service calls. • High School Diploma or equivalent required • Possession of CDL class A license is required to operate various types of heavy equipment. CDL class A license course must be completed with a passing score within the 90-day probation period. • Must pass backhoe operator training provided by Citizens Energy Group. • High School Diploma or equivalent required • Possession of CDL class A license is required to operate various types of heavy equipment. Job Overview The Mechanic Manufacturing I is responsible for repairing and maintaining all assets in the production facility. This position also responds promptly to equipment breakdowns and repairs the machinery in a timely manner and performs planned and unscheduled work, as necessary. The Mechanic Manufacturing I also maintains a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations; conserves maintenance resources by using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results; maintains equipment, parts, and supplies inventories by checking stock to determine inventory level as well as anticipating needed equipment, parts, and supplies.
