Mechanical Assembler

Job Title: Mechanical Assembler Job Description We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Assembler to join our team. This role involves the assembly of large diesel and natural gas engines, utilizing a variety of hand and power tools, specialized torque equipment, pneumatic tooling, electrical testing equipment, and lifting devices/cranes. The successful candidate will be manipulating engine components during the assembly process and learning the technical aspects of engine assembly, including troubleshooting and repair of in-process engines. Responsibilities • Assemble large diesel and natural gas engines using hand and power tools. • Utilize specialized torque equipment, pneumatic tooling, electrical testing equipment, and lifting devices/cranes. • Manipulate engine components during assembly process. • Learn technical aspects of engine assembly, including troubleshooting and repair. • Interpret and follow blueprints and specifications for custom engine builds. • Document processes and progress accurately using CPU. • Ensure proper tool usage and maintain knowledge of over 40 tools available at the assembly station. Essential Skills • Proven experience in an industrial environment, working with hands. • Experience using mechanical tooling such as torque equipment, DC tools, and hand tools. • Demonstrated mid-level mechanical aptitude. • Ability to follow written work instructions, SOPs, and blueprints. • Proficient CPU skills to follow engineering drawings and processes. • Ability to pass written and hands-on assessments during the training period. Additional Skills & Qualifications • Experience in industries such as automotive, diesel technician, lube technician, tire shop, farming, construction, and maintenance. • Steel-toed or composite shoes required. • No diploma required. • Must score in the 21st percentile or above on the GL assessment. Safety is a top priority, with PPE requirements including steel or composite toe shoes, earplugs, and protective glasses. The campus is tobacco-free, with usage allowed only in personal vehicles during approved break times. The schedule includes multiple shifts, with opportunities for overtime, and a collaborative team environment. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Lafayette, Indiana. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $21.34 - $22.09/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
