Planate is a small business provider of planning, design, infrastructure management, technical consulting, engineering, and construction management services in support of the US Department of Defense (DOD) and its Service (Army, Air Force, Navy, Marine Corps) missions, along with other US federal agencies, all over the world. We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly skilled Mechanical Project Engineer to provide engineering and project management support at Creech Air Force Base (CAFB). This role is critical in maintaining and enhancing the infrastructure that supports vital military operations. The successful candidate will lead and support the planning, design, construction, and operations of mechanical systems across a wide variety of real property facilities. Key responsibilities: • Provide mechanical engineering support for operations and maintenance (O&M), encompassing inspection, design, repair, upgrades, and renovation of infrastructure and utility systems. • Conduct site surveys and inspections to assess deficiencies and develop corrective strategies aligned with mission priorities. • Design and review mechanical systems (HVAC, plumbing, fire suppression/alarm systems, etc.) to ensure compatibility, maintainability, and functionality. • Assist in managing construction, renovation, and design projects for large and complex facilities such as industrial and multi-story buildings. • Develop and maintain Independent Government Cost Estimates (IGCE) using parametric tools and industry standards • Collaborate with engineers across disciplines, architects, utility providers, and base stakeholders • Facilitate utility outages, construction schedules, road closures, and design reviews in support of base construction and mission demands. • Support funding coordination with finance teams and assist in proposal evaluations and design • Utilize a wide range of engineering and design software including CADD, cost estimating tools, and project tracking systems. • Ensure full compliance with federal, state, and local safety, health, and environmental regulations. Qualifications to be successful in the role: • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution • Minimum of 6 years of U.S.-based experience in project management or engineering design (within the last 10 years) • Proven track record in mechanical design and construction oversight for complex infrastructure or military facilities. • Familiarity with SABER and MACC projects is a plus • Must be willing to complete required AFIT courses (WMGT 322, WMGT 422, WENG 200, WENG 400) unless already certified. Mechanical Engineer (MEP)

You are a P.E. with a Mechanical Engineering degree and 10+ years of industry experience in startup, commissioning, maintenance, or operation of Mechanical, HVAC, and Plumbing Systems. You have an inquisitive mind and want to use your training, education, and experience in an interesting, intense, challenging, and rewarding way.
