Our goal is to empower U.S. ally nations to effectively deter aggressors—regardless of their defense budget—through innovative, cost-efficient technologies. We call this vision “democratized deterrence.” As a VC-backed company at the intersection of defense and Silicon Valley, we’re pioneering the development of mission-adaptable aerial vehicles that put power back into the hands of operators. By prioritizing operator effectiveness, we’re pioneering a new era of aerial vehicle design. We aim to upend the traditional defense procurement model by delivering world-class capabilities at a fraction of the usual cost. Join us at Firestorm as we redefine defense procurement, making cutting-edge technology accessible to all at a fraction of the cost. About the Role Firestorm is seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Design Engineer to join our innovative engineering team in developing next-generation UAV systems. This person will be responsible for design and analysis of critical flight structures and mechanism design as well as build efforts for Firestorm's product line. The Mechanical Engineer will work closely with a fast-moving team of peers and engineering leadership to ensure mission-critical hardware is delivered on time and meets demanding technical performance. In this role, you’ll play a critical part in designing mechanical components and subsystems that meet demanding performance, manufacturability, and cost goals. You’ll work at the intersection of advanced aerospace technology and practical engineering, collaborating closely with electrical, manufacturing, and flight-test teams to ensure seamless integration of mechanical and electromechanical systems. A successful candidate will have experience delivering high-performance, mass-constrained hardware in a rapid development environment. Your expertise in 3D CAD, precision mechanical design, and system-level integration will be instrumental in driving forward novel solutions that expand the capabilities of our UAV platforms. As an individual contributor, you’ll directly contribute to the technical direction of your designs and play a key role in shaping engineering best practices across projects. You’ll be involved in all phases of the development cycle, from early concept and prototyping to rigorous testing and production, in a fast-paced, high-impact environment.
