DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES • New product design; including quoting costs and hours associated with building said design. • Design and drafting of optical mounting configurations to yield optimum performance under various environmental conditions. • Proficiency in using SolidWorks for detailed mechanical design. • Help troubleshoot and solve problems as they arise with the first time builds of prototype optical systems. • Solid PC skills including MS Office. Experience managing projects from inception to completion, working with a multi-disciplinary team in a fast paced, technically challenging environment. • Technical interface with G&H commercial team and customers, as needed, to insure clarity of the information supplied for design purposes. • Assistance with the assembly, integration, and testing of optical systems. • Assist with quality assurance and continuous improvement. • Stock code creation and bill of material creation inside MRP. Requirements: QUALIFICATIONS/ EXPERIENCE • BS in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline. • At least 5 years of experience designing mechanical assemblies. • Working knowledge of geometrical tolerancing. • Experience with Ansys or SolidWorks Simulation is a plus. • Good analytical and problem-solving skills. • Reviewing, assessing, and creating drawings, specifications, Engineering Change Orders (ECOs), technical reports and other documentation associated with design and build of products.
