See More Details >>The Composite Design Engineer, working under the direction of the Engineering Manager with minimum supervision, is responsible for the design and analysis of parts and assemblies to meet customer requirements. Responsibilities: • Work within cross-functional teams to design composite and metallic parts and assemblies to meet customer specification requirements • Create, run, and post-process Finite Element Method (FEM) models using Abaqus software. Models may be linear, non-linear, static, or dynamic • Analysis may include g-loading, random vibration, harmonic loading, fatigue, impact damage, progressive damage and failure • Use traditional methods or hand calculations to validate product designs • Create and review CAD models and drawings to define design requirements. Modify CAD models to facilitate FEM model creation • Support Preliminary Design Review and Critical Design Review presentations and associated reports • Document results in Strength Reports, Technical Writeups, and Presentation media • Support product qualification, which may include analysis, in-house testing, or sub-contracted test facilities • Assist in the design of the manufacturing processes and tooling needed to fabricate parts and assemblies to meet customer requirements • Applies principles of Advanced Product Quality Planning and Lean 6-Sigma to produce optimal, manufacturable product designs • May support initial fabrication and hand-off to manufacturing • Other duties as assigned Qualifications: • Minimum of Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related technical discipline with experience in Structural Analysis.
