Mechanical Specialist - High School

Description: 8 hours/day Monday- Friday: 6:30 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. Effective Date of Employment: ASAP Application Deadline: September 19, 2025 - 4:00 p.m. Application Procedures: Internal and External Candidates: Apply on-line at www.district196.org QUALIFICATIONS • High school diploma or equivalency required. • Maintenance experience, including preventative maintenance and the ability to work independently. • 2nd Class C Boiler license required, 1st Class C boilers license preferred. Refrigerant Certification preferred. • Hands on working experience with mechanical and electrical systems including building automation. • Must be physically qualified to perform assigned duties including lifting up to 50lbs on a regular basis and display flexibility in cleaning assignments. • Must have or obtain an Unlicensed Maintenance Electrician Certification within 3 months. • Demonstrated problem solving skills and working knowledge of OSHA regulations. • Must have a good attendance record and be punctual. • Must be able to follow verbal and written instructions and comprehend technical data, service manuals, etc. • Must be physically qualified to perform assigned duties to include maintenance repairs and display flexibility in working in extreme conditions heat, cold, inclement weather, etc. • Ability to communicate in a strong, positive manner with staff, students and the public. • Must have a desire to work in a cooperative manner and team environment. • Must have positive work performance evaluations and no recent disciplinary actions. • Must conduct a positive interview and receive a good reference from current and previous supervisors. • Demonstrated experience and proficiency working with a culturally, ethnically, racially and socioeconomically diverse school community is preferred. RESPONSIBILITIES • Perform repairs and maintenance on various types of equipment including: boilers, heating, air conditioning, refrigeration, ventilation, energy management system, electrical, plumbing, and custodial equipment. • Perform custodial work when necessary. • Assume building engineer duties as necessary. • Perform additional duties as assigned. • Subject to after hour call back. Job Description: BW Packaging is looking for a Mechanical Assembler who will construct machines and conveyance equipment in accordance with engineering drawings, quality expectations, and within planned schedules. In this role you will perform mechanical assembly of machines and equipment, including sub-assembly and component assembly. Key Responsibilities: • Demonstrate strong mechanical aptitude • Able to read and interpret mechanical engineering drawings. • Operate hand tools, power tools, measuring tools, and overhead cranes • Work within a team environment, as well work independently with little supervision • Identify problems and recommend solutions • Assist with final adjustments and machine start-up, debug and testing, and customer acceptance testing. • Prepare equipment for shipping, including crating • Follow and abide safety rules and regulations, including using PPE as required, and safe operation of tools and equipment • Adhere to company policies and procedures, including attendance expectations • Maintain an organized and clean work area • Perform tasks that require working overhead for extended periods, including installation, maintenance, and repair of equipment or components located above shoulder height • Communicate effectively with others and develop constructive working relationships • Ability to work with different computer programs • Able to be cross trained on various products as assigned • Perform other duties as assigned.
