Mechanical Service Technician

This position is based out of Elgin, IL and requires in and out of state travel up to 100% of the time. Travel area includes MN, WI & IA. Position Description: The Mechanical Service Technician is responsible for traveling to customers’ location, communicating via phone, conducting video calls to diagnose and repair mechanical issues with paint booth or related equipment along with additional service needs identified. The hours of operation are Monday – Friday 7:30 am to 5:00 pm. Extensive travel in the region as well as occasional overnight and out of state is required. Essential Duties & Responsibilities: · Constantly communicates directly with customers. · Troubleshoots/diagnoses in person, via phone or video. · Reads blueprints and electrical schematics. · Skills included being mechanically/technically inclined. · Uses diagnostic tools to identify issues and evaluating the available information. · Fixes defective or broken products or ordering the necessary parts to replace faulty or worn-out parts. · Completes other tasks as assigned by either the crew lead or coordinator. Required Qualifications: · 2 or more years of experience in a Service Technician or related job. · Must be able to use a voltmeter. · Proven strong customer service and communication skills. · Experience in a manufacturing organization is preferred. · Strong problem solving skills. · Ability to work independently. · Managing time on service calls with patience and not rushing the job. · Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in a situation. · Current good driving record with a valid driver's license. · Proficient user of MS Office including Outlook, Word, Power Point, and Excel. · Experience and demonstrated success providing customer service and working closely with customers to achieve common goals. Physical Requirements · Must be able to lift equipment weighing up to 80 lbs. · Must be able to tolerate working at heights. · Ability to climb up and down a ladder. · Required to talk and/or hear in an industrial setting where noise levels can vary greatly. · Frequently required to stand and walk on concrete surfaces from 4-12 hours. · Vision requirements: close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception and focus adjustment. Field Mechanical Technician

Position Summary: As an Field Mechanical Technician, you will leverage your expertise to ensure our customer where you are posted remains satisfied by performing planned maintenance and addressing service calls in a timely and professional manner. Your role will involve the maintenance and repair of conveyor systems, prioritizing service calls. You'll handle production support needs during their production shift. Responsibilities include, but not limited to: • Promote a safe working environment by following all safety procedures • Complete planned maintenance routines with proper documentation • Troubleshoot mechanical problems related to all material handling equipment (MHE) which includes conveyor belts, VFDs, motors, photo-eyes, relays, and more. • Maintain a professional manner in front of the customer to guarantee a professional image for our company. • Track and store department inventory • Be knowledgeable of the equipment to which you may be exposed. • Preview calendar, and Job tickets assigned by office in advance before the day of the assignment. • Identify what is needed for the job, and make sure you are prepared for the assignment. • Communicate back to the office any questions you may have to be prepared for the assignment. • Accept new duties and responsibilities when assigned. • Work well with other on-site technicians and subcontractors. • Perform walk through inspection reporting anything vital on a work-order and email. • Turn in customer signed work-orders daily accounting for labor and travel between arriving at the first site and leaving the last. • If a problem arises for which you need help, do not waste any time during customer production. Call your manager and ask for assistance. • Responsible for maintaining spare parts inventory onsite. Keeping an accurate inventory list • Demonstrate superior communication skills Basic Qualifications: • High School diploma or equivalent • 2+ years of experience in industrial maintenance, with a strong focus on automated conveyor systems • Proficiency in troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure • Basic computer knowledge with Microsoft Excel, Wood, Outlook and internet • Basic math skills and reasoning ability required Preferred Qualifications: • Technical certification or associate's degree in industrial maintenance, mechatronics, or related field; Hytrol knowledge a plus • 2+ years apprenticeship or equivalent experience in the Mechanical field as a maintenance technician Physical Requirements: • Ability to move heavy equipment and parts (up to 100 lbs). • Comfortable working in various industrial environments, which may include heights, confined spaces, and exposure to varying temperatures. • Capable of standing, walking, bending, and kneeling for extended periods.
