Engineer – Product Design Engineer Spartan Tool, LLC is an affiliate of The Heico Companies, a Chicago-based, privately-held multi-billion conglomerate of over 70 companies. Spartan cables are known for their longer life and consistently superior quality. Currently, we are seeking candidates for an Engineer position at our manufacturing facility in Niles, Michigan. This is an exciting opportunity for a seasoned engineer who is looking for a hands-on engineering position. Responsibilities will include: Conceptualize, design, develop, test and document new products and existing product modifications and improvements. Participate in Product Development Program for new products and solutions. Demonstrate creativity by identifying innovative engineering solutions to design problems. Design all products with a focus on operator safety, quality, manufacturability, and cost containment. Specifically design for assembly, design for service, and design for part commonality. Develop project plans, test plans, schedules, and roadmaps necessary for achieving project deliverables. Assist Territory Sales, Customer Service and Technical Service with diagnosing and troubleshooting field failures across all product lines. Attend trade shows to scout new product ideas and to participate in a sales staff feedback forum focused on product improvements. Work with Purchasing to source cost effective component solutions and review the quality of internationally sourced goods, assuring all testing is completed in a timely fashion. Accountable for designated engineering, facility, and production processes. Play a key role in supporting product line development and improvements, providing engineering input on technology, cost, quality, and production decisions. May occasionally mentor or provide guidance to technicians, drafters, or interns as part of project execution. Work closely with cross-functional teams including Sales, Purchasing, and Production to ensure successful product launches and ongoing support. Hands-on mindset with willingness to be directly involved in prototyping, testing, and troubleshooting. Requirements • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar discipline • Minimum of 3 years of experience in product development and manufacturing • Experience with on/off road or DOT applications • Must have excellent analytical, verbal and written communications skills. • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team environment. • Proficiency in 3D CAD tools (SolidWorks, Inventor, or similar), with willingness to adapt to new design platforms. • Self-directed and able to adapt to changing priorities while working on multiple projects. • Meet deadlines on a consistent and regular basis. • Highly detail oriented, organized and reliable • Electrical experience and troubleshooting with 12VDC systems, PLC, and PCB’s is a plus.

Job Summary Each position in the Engineering Technologist job family is responsible to the assigned supervisor to perform entry level work activities and projects requiring the application of engineering technology knowledge in a safe, cost-effective and efficient way. Job Description What you’ll do: • Recommend Grid upgrades • Technical resources for substation customer reliability • Technical resource for Cook Nuclear Plant switchyard • Analyze Substations most limiting series elements • Interface to Production Engineering to solve construction design and corrective maintenance issues. • Troubleshoot and repair Electrical substation equipment • Install and Commission battery chargers and battery systems. • Test High and low voltage Substation Circuit breakers • Assist with Power Restoration • Review Substation testing data • Interface with equipment vendors on warranty and repairs • Obtain knowledge to act as subject matter experts on Power Transformers and Circuit Breakers. • Present Policies and Procedures • Technical Proficiency: Possesses technical to entry level knowledge acquired from a Bachelor's Degree in an ABET accredited engineering technology program. Demonstrates the ability to perform with proper guidance special technical functions required in the relevant area of assignment. Gains familiarity with standards, codes, and regulations relevant to the area of assignment. Gains familiarity with pertinent equipment, materials, systems, and business processes. Assists higher level employees in handling well defined portions of routine problems. • Leadership & Guidance: Follows policies, practices, standards, and rules of the company and those regulations and procedures required externally. Performs certain ongoing activities in accordance with established procedures with direction from higher level employees. Performs work activities as assigned and coached by higher level employees.
