This leadership role oversees the Process & Mechanical Department, ensuring high-quality engineering performance and operational excellence. Will provide strategic direction to the team, foster collaboration, and drive continuous improvement by addressing performance gaps in systems, equipment, and personnel. Key responsibilities include project coordination, ensuring seamless execution within budget and schedule while meeting all project requirements. This position emphasizes effective change management and contributes to the organization's mission of operational excellence and innovation. As the Department Head Process and Mechanical, here’s the work you’ll do: • Oversee the administrative and technical operations of the Process & Mechanical Department, ensuring the integrity, quality, and excellence of all engineering outputs. Proactively identify and resolve performance gaps in systems, equipment, and personnel, fostering continuous improvement and operational efficiency • Ensure the technical quality of the department's work consistently meets and exceeds professional engineering standards, aligning with company policies, client expectations, and national regulations. This includes implementing rigorous quality control measures, conducting regular reviews, and fostering a culture of excellence to uphold the organization’s reputation for delivering high-caliber engineering solutions • Optimize the utilization of departmental personnel by strategically planning, staffing, and allocating work assignments to ensure efficiency and productivity. Take ownership of discipline-specific cost and schedule commitments on individual projects, ensuring timely delivery within budget while maintaining the highest standards of quality and performance • Oversee and review departmental work to ensure accuracy, quality, and compliance with project standards. Conduct Independent Technical Reviews (ITRs) to validate design integrity and technical soundness. Lead the development of project proposals by defining engineering efforts and scopes of services, ensuring alignment with client expectations and organizational objectives • Provide comprehensive supervision and performance management of team members, including conducting regular appraisals, administering salary reviews, and recognizing achievements to drive engagement and retention. Develop and implement strategic talent development initiatives to cultivate skills, prepare employees for future roles, and build a strong leadership pipeline. Oversee the design and delivery of robust department training programs, ensuring team members remain aligned with industry advancements and organizational objectives. Foster an inclusive and supportive environment that encourages professional growth, collaboration, and continuous improvement This role is for you if you have these skills: • Demonstrated expertise in effective project execution and adherence to established project procedures, ensuring successful delivery of objectives. Proven ability to supervise and lead engineering teams, managing resources efficiently to achieve project milestones and deliverables. Possess exceptional organizational skills to handle multiple projects simultaneously, coupled with strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively convey ideas, collaborate with stakeholders, and drive project success • Comprehensive understanding of chemical and process engineering principles, including reaction kinetics, thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, and mass transfer. Apply this expertise to guide the design, optimization, and integration of process systems with mechanical components, ensuring efficient, reliable, and high-performing operations that align with project and organizational goals • Proven ability to develop and enhance workflows for process and mechanical engineering, emphasizing the integration of process optimization, mechanical reliability, safety, sustainability, and adherence to environmental and industry standards. Drive continuous improvement to achieve operational excellence and ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements • Extensive knowledge of mechanical systems, encompassing rotating equipment such as pumps, compressors, and turbines, as well as static equipment like vessels, heat exchangers, and piping. Demonstrated expertise in the selection, design, installation, and development of maintenance strategies to ensure optimal performance, reliability, and longevity of these critical systems • Proven proficiency in utilizing industry-standard software tools, including Aspen HYSYS for process simulation, CAESAR II for piping stress analysis, PV Elite for equipment design, and Primavera P6 for project management. This expertise is critical for ensuring accurate analysis, effective design, and efficient project execution in this role And if you have these qualifications: • BSCE or BSME required from a ABET accredited college/university • 15+ years of Process/Chemical or Mechanical detailed engineering design experience, preferably in a design or consulting firm • 6-10+ years experience in E&C projects directly related to the Chemical Process or Power industry including but not limited to Chemical, Petrochemical, Chemical Intermediates, or Fibers Industries, etc.) is preferred • 3-5+ years work experience in EPC and/or light industrial projects is desirable • PE License, with ability to obtain PE registration in other states via exam or comity      In compliance with this state’s pay transparency laws, the salary range for this role is $136,400 - $204,600. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location. (The specific programs and options available to an employee may vary depending on date of hire, schedule type, and the applicability of collective bargaining agreements). Applicants must have excellent written and verbal communication skills and a strong work ethic. Work schedule may include some weekends. Qualifications Ideal applicants will have at least 1 - 3 years of direct construction material testing experience and NCDOT Asphalt Certified or hold an Engineer in Training Certification. It is preferred to have certifications or training from ACI, ICC, NICET, NCDOT and/or SCDOT; Nuclear Gauge Certification a plus. Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering preferred. Valid Drivers License with acceptable driving record and pre-employment drug screening is required.
