Sr Mechanical Engineer

Job Title: Sr. Mechanical Engineer Location- Will be primarily in Sumter, SC - also will be expected to travel to: Chicago & Boston Duration:1 year Title: mechanical engineer x2 • * looking for someone with OOEE- optimizing workflow efficiency , also only medial device & automation please Job Description We are seeking a dedicated Sr. Mechanical Engineer to support the startup of a new production line that was previously mothballed and is now being revived. This role involves significant involvement in conducting acceptance tests, troubleshooting, and ensuring optimal performance of mechanical systems. Responsibilities • Conduct Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) and Site Acceptance Tests (SAT), identifying and debugging mechanical, electrical, or software malfunctions. • Ensure compliance with mechanical, electrical, and ergonomic safety standards. • Oversee the fine-tuning and debugging of mechanical components within automation systems. • Optimize equipment parameters to achieve desired Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE). • Utilize optical instruments for precise measurements or imaging, specifically with Data Logic and Cognex vision systems. • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to maintain records, generate reports, and ensure compliance. Essential Skills • High-level expertise in SAT/FAT execution. • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. • Experience in high-speed machine automation, preferably in the medical device industry. • 7-10 years of experience in line commissioning with a focus on mechanical engineering. • Proficiency in basic office programs such as Word, Excel, and Project. • Basic awareness of ISO standards. Additional Skills & Qualifications • Experience with SAT/FAT processes in a regulated manufacturing environment is preferred. • Molding experience is a plus. • Must possess excellent communication skills and a positive attitude. • Ability to integrate with the client's site engineering team, working closely with Mechanical/Electrical technicians and operators. Work Environment The role offers 2 weeks of paid time off and 6 paid holidays. The work environment is collaborative, requiring interaction with various engineering and technical teams. It is essential to work effectively under the direction of the client's site engineering team.

Mechanical or Electrical Maintenance Reliability Technician Sylvamo, a major pulp and paper producer, is seeking its next generation of top operators for the Sumter Sheet Converting Facility. We are looking for dependable women and men with excellent problem-solving, communication and teamwork skills to fill our challenging position as an Operating Technician. The plant and the organization were designed in concert for the team concept. The designs have created an environment that fosters trust, commitment, flexibility, creativity, and positive response to change. The end result is a high-performance operation. The Sumter Sheet Converting Facility is a 220,000 square foot plant the houses two – 86” width and 69” width ECH Will precision sheeters and 6 Packaging Lines producing over 285,000 tons. The plant is staffed by a salaried work force of 116 people. Pay Rate: $27.80 - $37.13. Starting pay with opportunities to progress or commensurate with relevant experience Duties for mechanical reliability include, but are not restricted to, replacing valves & gaskets, basic welding, repacking pumps & valves, forklift operations, screwed pipe & tubing installations, cylinder repair, pump repair & replacement, repair of rotating assemblies, roll repair and replacements, motor replacements, repair of mechanical drive systems, gear reducers, seals, fans, hydraulics, pneumatics, lubrication and rigging. Duties for electrical reliability include, but are not restricted to, electrical circuit troubleshooting & repair, conduit & wire installation, lighting repair, PLC troubleshooting & repair, drive troubleshooting & repair, Instrumentation & control valve calibration, troubleshooting & repair, and HVAC work. The desired candidate is expected to learn and operate all sheeting equipment (in a backfill opportunity) and become the equipment expert trainer. Minimum qualifications: • High School Diploma or GED • Basic computer skills • Able to function in a team environment • 5 years minimum experience in an industrial setting performing as Mechanic, electrical and instrumentation, or Millwright in a multi-skilled heavy industrial maintenance environment • 1 Year Vocational/Technical education in the field of Industrial Maintenance/Welding/Millwright or 1 Year Vocational/Technical education in the Instrumentation Electrical Disciplines: Electrical, Instrumentation, or HVAC. • Must be able to pass hands-on demonstrated skill test and written tests. PLUS: Must be willing to meet the following requirements: • Undergo a drug screen for illicit use of drugs as a condition of employment • Submit to periodic drug screens as a condition of employment • Willing and capable of working all shifts • Work overtime on a regular basis, and with last-minute notification • Work holidays and/or weekends regularly • Wear the required safety equipment • Operate or work in industrial conditions (i.e., warm/hot, dusty/dirty, around hazardous chemicals, noise, heavy machinery, or elevated working surfaces with proper safety training and safety protection. Preferred Requirements: • Associate degree in a related discipline (Millwright, Machinist, Welding, Electrician, OR Pipefitting) • Relevant work experience in a heavy industrial environment • Strong math/physics understanding • Millwright/Machinist backgrounds on the Mechanical side or E & I background on the Electrical side Sylvamo partners with you and your family on your health and wellness journey.
