Controls Engineer

Job Title: Controls Engineer Job Description As a Controls Engineer, you will design and implement cutting-edge control systems for autonomous mobile equipment in the surface mining industry. This role offers the chance to work on impactful automation projects, mentor junior engineers, and travel to global mining sites for system validation and commissioning. Responsibilities • Design, develop, and test control systems for autonomous mining equipment from concept through deployment. • Program PLCs and create I/O maps, functional specs, and technical documentation. • Lead the electrical design of systems with a focus on connectivity and integration. • Evaluate and integrate emerging technologies such as GPS, Lidar, and low-voltage power systems. • Apply agile/kanban methodologies to manage tasks and deliverables. • Conduct code reviews and enforce coding standards to ensure quality and safety. • Ensure all control systems comply with local and international safety standards. • Travel to client sites (including Canada, South America, South Africa, and Australia) for commissioning, troubleshooting, and field testing. • Mentor junior engineers and collaborate with global engineering and product support teams. Essential Skills • Bachelor's degree in engineering. • 5+ years of Allen Bradley programming experience. • Active passport for international travel. Additional Skills & Qualifications • Experience with Codesys, Python, structured text. • Experience with Agile methodologies and tools like Jira. • PLC programming and troubleshooting.
