The Senior Mechanical Engineer plans and designs packaging equipment, mechanical components, electro-mechanical, and pneumatic systems. The Senior Mechanical Engineer interacts with other technical specialists and engineers to assure that the equipment meets the customer’s needs and federal, state, and local regulatory guidelines as required or directed by management. As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will… • Creates Bill of Materials (BOM). • Contributes to the mechanical design/development of new products. • Creates and dimension engineering/fabrication drawings for sheet metal and machined metal components. • Creates drawings for installation / training / operator manuals as needed. • Creates product final assembly drawings. • Maintains drawing database to ensure current drawings/documentation is available for Production department. • Will process Engineering Change Orders. • Reads and interprets technical drawings and schematics. • Provides Engineering support for the Purchasing/Production department, may coordinate fabrication of prototypes with outside vendors. • Designs, conducts, and documents experiments for Research and Development. • Researches and evaluates mechanical equipment, processes and systems applying knowledge of engineering principles. • Specifies components and directly modifies designs to ensure conformance with standards and performance specifications. • Conducts root cause analysis. Recommends and implements changes as directed. • Works with a minimum of supervision and manages complex level design tasks. • Reviews technical proposals and quotations. Provides technical assistance and support to manufacturing, sales, and service as directed. • Interacts with other technical specialists and engineers to assure that the equipment meets the customer’s needs and federal, state, and local regulatory guidelines. Job Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering; at least ten years of experience in mechanical engineering design in a manufacturing environment; or equivalent combination of education. Previous experience at an OEM designing complex, automated packaging machinery required. Mastery of MS Office applications, proficiency in dimensioning mechanical parts and assemblies in CAD applications. What’s in it for you?
