CNC Machinist - Nights

Position SummaryMill Creek Machining (MCM) is seeking a CNC Machinist for our Spencer, IA location. The CNC Machinistis responsible for quality parts produced on our Doosan, Takamaz, and Mazak lathes. The pay range for this role is between $19.00 - $26.00/hr. depending on experience. An additional $3.00 per hour will be added to your hourly rate of pay for working the night shift. A weekly attendance bonus of $44.00 per week will be added to each pay period when all scheduled hours are worked**Our machine shop is 100% climate controlled!*Essential Duties and Responsibilities as per trainingVerifies cycle times on all jobs and reports discrepancies to his/her crew chief and annotates on traveler. Verifies/sets gauging against known standards and ensures gauging is correct per inspection sheet. Knows and ensures all safety devices are in place and working properly. Inspects machine and work area in general for proper order and operation. Operates machinery according to acceptable and safe practice. Makes routine offsets and able to ascertain the need for changing inserts and capable of doing so as needed. Able to change work holding fixtures and tooling as instructed by crew chief. Assists in the preparation and execution of set ups as directed by machinist or crew chief. Competent in all the duties of a trainee and performs all tasks as assigned by supervision/management. Experience, Qualifications, and SkillsHigh school diploma or GED.1+ years related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience. Ability to apply concepts of basic math. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Job Profile The company (Mill Creek Machining) is hiring a CNC Lathe Setup Technician who will be responsible for the excellence of precision machining of quality parts produced. Educational Qualification • Applicants should have a High School Diploma or GED Work Experience • Possess 1 to 5+ years of experience operating CNC Lathe machines Duties/Responsibilities • Ensures a safe work environment is maintained, appropriate safety systems/processes are utilized, and ensure compliance with all OSHA and other state/federal safety and environmental-related rules and regulations. • Inspects first run piece and makes offsets as required, spot checks succeeding pieces for conformance to specifications (including documentation of results per the quality department records). • Inspects parts per print and in-process documentation. • Installs jaws, tooling, download program, enters offsets and proves out machine. • Maintains a clean and organized work environment through 5-S controls (willing to learn 5-S controls). • Prepares all tools, and gauging needed for machining operations. • Recommends and helps implement any improvements that could be made in the existing process. • Understands programs and sets up CNC Lathe machines using programs generated by the engineering department. • Performs other associated duties with machines, programs, tooling, and training of operators needed to continue the productive operation of the company.
