General Job Description Responsible for handling all tool room machining activities which include the designing, drawings, setup, and machining of items needed for our production facilities; create detailed drawings or sketches of parts; setup and create parts for prints or sketches; do alternative work such as helping with machine repairs; setup, operate and machine on a vertical mill and metal lathe; operate a band saw and a chop saw; operate a drill press; use micrometers, calipers, depth gauges, bore gauges, dial indicators, etc. Work Experience Requirements • Trades education program completed (2-4 years of trade school) • Minimum of 2-3 years of machine shop experience in a manufacturing facility. • Must have a good mechanical understanding of how machinery works and how components interact. • Must be able to perform basic math functions and use standard measuring devices. • Must be able to read and interpret engineering drawings and blueprints to interpret dimensions to the appropriate measurements on the machine. • Basic computer skills • Must have good problem solving skills. • Must have excellent attendance history. • Must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 lbs. • Ability to stand on hard surface for 10 -12 hour shifts in hot or cold environment. • Good hand and eye coordination. • Good visual acuity. • Ability to climb, bend, kneel, crouch and stoop to perform various functions of the position. • Ability to reach with hands and arms. • Ability to work independently. • Must be able to read and understand English • Other duties as assigned • Physical Requirements: • This position is typically in a manufacturing setting and requires standing for long periods of time. Requires good hand-eye coordinator, arm, hand and finger dexterity, including ability to grasp. Ability to manipulate (carry, lift, move) objects weighing up to 50 pounds. This position plays a key role in our manufacturing support team by developing strategies to optimize machine and labor utilization, while driving performance in safety, quality, delivery, and profitability. Key Responsibilities: Oversee daily operations of the CNC machining department, ensuring efficient production flow and meeting delivery targets. Lead, mentor, and develop a team of machinists and technicians; manage staffing, scheduling, training, and performance.
