An HVAC/R Technician should have at least one year of education or related experience covering all these areas. They should possess a solid technical foundation that can be developed further to advance into an HVAC/R Technician II or III role. An HVAC/R Technician I should be able to: • Identify basic refrigeration components and understand their operation and flow • Understand air conditioning fundamentals, including thermostat operation and proper wiring • Read wiring schematics and identify electrical components • Use an electric meter correctly • Operate a torch (Oxy-Acetylene preferred) • Be proficient in brazing and soldering • Properly use a gauge manifold, perform refrigerant recovery and reclaim procedures • Hold a Type III or Universal EPA certification Responsibilities • Troubleshoots repairs and maintains HVAC/R, kitchen appliances/equipment, beverage, and plumbing systems. • Repairs and maintains physical structure of establishment, including repair of lighting and electrical systems, minor dry wall and other wall and flooring materials, interior and exterior painting, and plumbing. • Operates and cares for company tools and vehicles in a safe manner. • Required to work frequent overtime including nights, weekends, holidays and participate in an on-call rotation. Education and Experience • 2 years of experience in the HVAC/R or Restaurant equipment service fields or 2 years of formal technical training in the HVAC/R, plumbing or electrical career fields. • EPA Section 608 Technician Certification (Universal) is required. • Understand and use technical manuals including schematics and wiring diagrams. • Mechanically inclined.
