POSITION SUMMARY: The Industrial Electrician ensures the proper operation and upkeep of machinery, mechanical equipment, and industrial vehicles for the manufacturing facility. This position requires the employee to actively identify problems with equipment and/or facility systems, document the issues, and take corrective actions to resolve the problems, while effectively communicating all pertinent issues to management. The Industrial Electrician performs assigned preventative maintenance tasks as it relates to the production facility to minimize downtime or unplanned repairs. This position maintains a safe and clean work environment by complying with company and regulatory procedures and rules. The Industrial Electrician will work and collaborate with contractor services for a variety of maintenance and repair services. This position reports to the Plant Manager. RESPONSIBILITIES: • Performs manufacturing equipment troubleshooting and repairs, with a focus on electrical components. • Follow Good Manufacturing Practices, Food Safety Preventative Actions, Quality Policy, Standard Operation Procedures (SOP) and Safety policies. • Performs Preventative Maintenance (PM) duties. • Manages parts inventories and identify requirements for orders. • Building and facility repairs that may require fabrication/welding duties. QUALIFICATIONS: • 3-5 years experience as an Electrician in an industrial environment required; Industrial electric maintenance in food and beverage manufacturing preferred. • Completion of relevant certification from a trade school required. • Ability to follow and understand blueprints, operations manuals, electrical diagrams, and manufacturer's instructions to maintain, troubleshoot, and repair equipment. • Strong knowledge of GMP’s and of all food safety and physical safety guidelines, rules, and policies as they apply to the repair, and operation of equipment and facilities. • Knowledge of mechanical systems, electrical systems, HVAC systems, OSHA requirements, pneumatic systems, and hydraulic systems. • Excellent troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills are required. • Principles of food hygiene and food safety as defined and described on 21 CFR-Part 117 including the importance of employee health and personal hygiene, as appropriate to the assigned duties. • Able to stand or sit for prolonged hours, lift 50 lbs., climb stairs and safely utilize ladders and aerial work platforms. • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite; PM and PLC Software preferred. • Position required to work varying shift and weekend at times to support project execution requirements. • Must reside in the Palestine, Texas area. Program Overview About The Role Peraton provides management and technical support for NASA's scientific balloon program which supports enabling science missions for NASA and universities across the United States and foreign scientific communities. Scientific balloon missions provide researchers inexpensive, relatively quick, long duration access to near space altitudes and environments. Balloon missions cost orders of magnitude less than satellite missions and provide platforms for heavy experiments (some greater than 5000-lbs) to operate for weeks and even months. Balloon missions have provided significant science theories and discoveries about cosmic rays, gamma ray and x-ray astronomy, optical and UV astronomy, atmospheric sciences, and cosmic microwave background studies. Our staff are located at the Columbia Scientific Balloon Facility (CSBF) in Palestine, TX where we design, analyze, build and assembly the support hardware and balloon gondola payloads for the missions. We launch the balloons from locations within the United States (Texas, New Mexico, and Hawaii) and around the world including Antarctica, Sweden, New Zealand, and Australia. Peraton's NASA Balloon Operations Contract (NBOC) program is seeking a candidate to support manufacture, test, integration, and field operations for NASA Balloon missions.
