Electrician

Electrician I - Building Maintenance

SUMMARY JOB DESCRIPTION Assists in performing skilled work in the installation, alteration, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems, fixtures, apparatus, and equipment. Work assignments are received in written or oral form and may be accompanied by sketches or blueprints. Work may be performed somewhat independently but primarily accompanied by an electrician, under the general supervision of the Electrical/Electronics Foreperson. Completed work is inspected primarily for conformity to specifications, instructions, and safety standards. Performs troubleshooting in dorms and campus buildings on a daily basis. Assists in preparation for special events on campus. Assists with new construction and remodeling projects as required. Reports to the Electrical/Electronics Foreperson. QUALIFICATIONS High school diploma or equivalent is required. One year of experience in low voltage electrical work involving interior and exterior wiring and the repair of electrical equipment is required. Apprentice license is preferred. PHYSICAL May require carrying heavy tools and equipment up and down several flights of stairs. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS • Assists with installation, maintenance, and repairing of electrical control panels, switches, circuit breakers, outlets, fixtures, fittings, and accessories on all high and low voltage circuits and apparatus. • Repairs small electrical tools and appliances. • May be required to work under adverse conditions (darkness, bad weather, high voltage situations, etc.). • May be required to work overtime on special projects or in emergency situations. • May assist supervisor in maintaining materials inventory. NON-ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS • May work from bucket on aerial lines if necessary. • May purchase materials. • May pre-set shutdowns for scheduled maintenance. • Performs other related duties as assigned. REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES The individual must possess these skills and abilities or be able to explain and demonstrate that the individual can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of skills and abilities. • Knowledge of, or the ability to learn, standard methods, practices, materials, tools, and equipment of the electrical trade (national electrical code for electrical installations). • Knowledge of, or the ability to learn, occupational hazards and safety procedures. • Skill in the use of hand and shop tools and equipment of the electrical trade. • Ability to climb ladders of all types and all heights. • Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions and to interpret and work from blueprints and sketches. • Ability to plan work. • Ability to promote good customer relations. • Ability to get along with people and work as a team member. • Physical condition adequate to permit full performance of duties. Electrician for Industrial Manufacturing

Join our team at West Fraser Lumber Mill, located in Henderson, Texas, as an Electrician for Industrial Manufacturing. In this exciting role, you will be responsible for troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing all electrical equipment within our state-of-the-art manufacturing facility. Your Key Responsibilities: • Conduct tests on electrical systems, circuits, and equipment to ensure safe operation. • Inspect systems and components to identify hazards or defects requiring repair. • Troubleshoot, program, and upgrade Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) to optimize production processes. • Collaborate with vendors to identify parts necessary for repairs and recommend purchases to your Supervisor. • Read and update instrumentation loop diagrams, E & I drawings, and blueprints. • Program AC and DC variable speed drives for efficient machinery operation. • Enhance and maintain the power distribution system, Motor Control Centers (MCC), and switch gears. • Install electrical equipment as required in the facility. Preferred Skills and Experience: • Experience following lock-out procedures to ensure safety. • A keen eye for detail and a strong focus on accuracy. • Excellent planning, organizing, and communication skills. • Proficient in problem analysis and solution development. • A team player with high motivation and a positive attitude. Additional Requirements: • Availability for rotating shifts, overtime, and on-call support for 24/7 operations. • 4-5 years of electrician experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment. • A high school diploma or GED. • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug screen, physical, and background check. Experience with: • Allen Bradley PLC5 and ControlLogix 5000 systems. • Allen Bradley Panelviews and communications systems like Devicenet and Ethernet. • Scanning and Optimization systems related to the Lumber Business (Porter, USNR). • Process Network Communication Systems, including Ethernet and Fiber Optic technology.
