Electrician II

Performs highly technical work in the installation, alteration, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems, fixtures, apparatus, and equipment. Work assignments are received in written or oral form, and may be accompanied by sketches or blueprints. Work may be performed somewhat independently under the general supervision of the Electrician Foreperson. Completed work is inspected primarily for conformity to specifications, instructions, and safety standards. Troubleshooting in dorms and campus buildings on a daily basis. Assists in preparation of special events on campus. Assists with new construction and remodeling projects as required. Reports to Electrician Foreperson. Essential Job Functions 1. Installs, maintains, and repairs all electrical control panels, switches, circuit breakers, outlets, fixtures, fittings, and accessories on all high and low voltage circuits and apparatus. 2. Repairs small electrical tools and appliances. 3. Works from bucket on aerial lines when necessary. 4. May supervise student workers, helpers, and/or contract laborers. 5. May purchase materials. 6. May pre-set shutdowns for scheduled maintenance. 7. May be required to work overtime on special projects or in emergency situations. 8. May act as foreperson in his/her temporary absence. 9.
