Journeyman Electrician (Industrial)

Overview We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Journeyman Electrician to join our team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in both commercial and industrial electrical work, with a strong understanding of the National Electrical Code (NEC). This role involves building and renovating electrical systems, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring compliance with safety standards across East Texas. As a Journeyman Electrician, you will be responsible for working on high voltage systems and utilizing power tools effectively to complete projects efficiently. Responsibilities • Install, maintain, and repair electrical systems in commercial and industrial settings. • Read and interpret electrical schematics and blueprints to determine layout and installation procedures. • Troubleshoot electrical issues using logic controllers and other diagnostic tools. • Ensure all work complies with NEC standards and local regulations. • Collaborate with other tradespeople to complete projects on time and within specifications. • Conduct regular inspections of electrical systems to identify potential hazards or necessary repairs. • Maintain a clean and organized work environment while adhering to safety protocols. Experience • Proven experience as a Journeyman Electrician, preferably in both commercial and industrial settings. • Strong knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and local electrical codes. • Familiarity with high voltage systems and safe handling practices. • Proficiency in reading schematics, blueprints, and technical documents related to electrical installations. • Experience using power tools safely and effectively in various work environments. • Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex electrical issues independently. • Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with team members and clients. Electrician

Electrician II

Performs highly technical work in the installation, alteration, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems, fixtures, apparatus, and equipment. Work assignments are received in written or oral form, and may be accompanied by sketches or blueprints. Work may be performed somewhat independently under the general supervision of the Electrician Foreperson. Completed work is inspected primarily for conformity to specifications, instructions, and safety standards. Troubleshooting in dorms and campus buildings on a daily basis. Assists in preparation of special events on campus. Assists with new construction and remodeling projects as required. Reports to Electrician Foreperson. Essential Job Functions 1. Installs, maintains, and repairs all electrical control panels, switches, circuit breakers, outlets, fixtures, fittings, and accessories on all high and low voltage circuits and apparatus. 2. Repairs small electrical tools and appliances. 3. Works from bucket on aerial lines when necessary. 4. May supervise student workers, helpers, and/or contract laborers. 5. May purchase materials. 6. May pre-set shutdowns for scheduled maintenance. 7. May be required to work overtime on special projects or in emergency situations. 8. May act as foreperson in his/her temporary absence. 9. May be required to work under adverse conditions (darkness, bad weather, high voltage situations, etc.). Non-Essential Job Functions 1. May assist supervisor in maintaining materials inventory. 2. Required Experience and Training Five years of experience in high and low voltage electrical work involving interior and exterior wiring is required. Repair of electrical equipment, including completion of a recognized apprenticeship in the electrical trade, may also be considered. Journeyman electrician license is required. Preferred Qualifications College degree is preferred. Master electrician license is preferred.
