Mechanical Maintenance Technician

Company Description Headquartered in Reno, Nevada, Ormat is a leading geothermal company and the only vertically integrated company solely engaged in geothermal and recovered energy generation (REG), with the objective of becoming a leading global provider of renewable energy. Position Summary This position must be able to perform the essential functions below. The Technician works under close supervision, performing the essential functions at an adequate level. Essential Functions • Observe and follow Ormat’s environmental and operational rules, procedures and guidelines • Strictly adhere to and enforce safety procedures as required by ORMAT, CAPP, and OSHA • Responsible for welding and fabrication of pipe spools, flanges, fittings and structural items • Troubleshoot, repair and maintain mechanical equipment as required to support plant operations • Perform routine and preventative maintenance tasks • Provide recommendations for improvements • Must be able to operate a vehicle in a safe manner, enter and exit vehicle without assistance, remain alert while driving for continuous period of time and read and understand maps • Must be able to operate a forklift, crane, rig loads and/or a backhoe • Must be able to work weekends and holidays when necessary • Must be able to work overtime as required • Must be able to travel extensively to other locations, including rural areas to work on other projects Other Responsibilities • Perform environmental and general housekeeping duties • Attend Monthly Safety and Maintenance training • Ability to respond to emergency calls • Provide coaching and guidance to junior Mechanical Maintenance Technicians. • Process work orders, assist in inventory, and requisitioning of parts and supplies • Search for and eliminate organizational weaknesses and jobsite conditions that create conditions for error. • Periodically observe fellow maintenance technicians while performing work activities to ensure proper procedures, techniques, and safety guidelines are being followed. • Participate in regular training to improve performance, acquire professional licenses, and maintain certification required by Ormat and government regulations. • Perform other duties as directed Education, Experience, And Skills Required • The ability to understand procedures and instructions specific to the areas of assignment as would be acquired in three to four years of high school • One (1) year of experience in the mechanical maintenance or other relevant field • Hands-on experience in operations, maintenance and project implementation related to power production, turbine-generators, and auxiliary equipment. • The ability to read technical documentation such as piping and instrumentation diagrams, one-line diagrams, and design and analysis reports. • Ability to methodically troubleshoot mechanical equipment and systems. • Must have the ability to read, write and speak English at a level that will permit the employee to understand and communicate information in a manner that will enable the employee to safely and efficiently perform the job duties • Must be able to use and acquire knowledge of a variety of computer software applications in word processing, spread sheets, database and presentation. Must be proficient in MS Word, Excel, Power Point and use of the Internet • Must possess at any time a valid driver’s license with a driving record acceptable to ORMAT’s auto insurance carrier • Must be able to operate a vehicle in a safe manner • May be required to obtain a Class B or Class A CDL – Tank Endorsement Physical Requirements • The ability to lift a minimum of 20 pounds in awkward positions and 75 pounds from the floor to the waist • Must be able to climb ladders, climb to and work off of elevated platforms, ladders and walkways • Must be able to work in confined spaces, heights exceeding 10 feet, and in harsh weather conditions • Protective equipment must be worn in the performance of some duties • Work is subject to exposure to hazardous chemicals, electrical currents, gases, dust, and noxious odors. • Job requires sitting and/or standing for long periods of time with moderate bending, stooping, and kneeling Additional Information All your information will be kept confidential according to EEO guidelines.

About the role - Mechanical Technician (Winnemucca, NV) We are excited to announce an opportunity at Orica for a Mechanical Technician within our Specialty Mining Chemicals team. The Mechanical Technician is responsible in assisting the maintenance team in the service and repair of all plant equipment, resulting in reliable production runs with limited mechanical downtime. This position reports to the Maintenance Supervisor and is responsible for all day-to-day maintenance needs. Duties may include regular/preventative machinery maintenance, troubleshooting mechanical or facilities issues, making necessary repairs, and completing all related documentation. What you will be doing • Provide maintenance support to Operations department for all mechanical equipment • Weekly oil and grease checks of rolling stock and certain process equipment • Repair of process vessels during shutdowns and support for startups • Installing and testing of various rotating equipment, pumps, seals, and gaskets • Basic understanding of testing motors and sensors for different testers • Basic ability to trace electrical wires, read a volt/ohm meter. Basic instrument understanding (4-20) signals • Forklift training, crane, truck driving, refrigerating training, and hydraulics • Ability to create/issue work orders and PMs in the CMMS (i.e. M3, SAP, and passport) • Knowledge of piping systems manual valves and welding capability is a plus What you will bring Minimum/Required Experience • 5+ years’ experience or equivalent experience in maintenance/electrical/welding preferred • 2-5 years of process control experience preferred • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
