Senior Mechanical Engineer

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING Based in Carson City, NV, the Senior Mechanical Engineer plays a lead role in shaping the future of aircraft lighting. You’ll be primarily responsibility for customer installation programs and the mechanical portion of new product development initiatives. You’ll lead product development efforts, balancing creativity, engineering rigor, and FAA compliance—and be the technical point person for key customer programs. You’ll work closely with cross-functional teams including Sales, Manufacturing, and Engineering to deliver cost-effective and manufacturable solutions. This is a highly visible role that includes system-level design, hands-on prototyping, field surveys, vendor selection, and continuous improvement efforts. In addition, 25% of your time will be devoted to productivity improvement projects that enhance efficiency and innovation across Bruce operations. Travel (10–30%) will be required to support installations, testing, and customer engagements. Specifically, you will be responsible for: • Leading mechanical design efforts from concept through certification and release, including CAD modeling, drafting, and documentation • Managing customer programs—defining scope, performing aircraft surveys, and supporting product installation and testing • Driving cost-reduction and productivity improvement projects across the Bruce operation • Collaborating cross-functionally with Engineering, Sales, Manufacturing, and customers to develop manufacturable, FAA-compliant lighting solutions • Supporting technical proposals, obsolescence planning, and supplier/customer communications • Mentoring junior engineers and contributing to a safe, collaborative, and high-performance team environment • Traveling domestically and internationally to support product installations, field testing, and customer engagements WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR You are innovative, self-directed, and thrive in environments where you get to lead.
