Job Description: POSITION OVERVIEW Alliance Automation has an immediate opening for a Senior Mechanical Engineer at our rapidly growing business in Van Wert, Ohio. The primary mission of this role is to design custom machinery and robotics equipment for the automotive, consumer goods, and food packaging industries. Candidates should possess foundational knowledge in pneumatics, electrical systems, and hydraulics. Proficiency in SolidWorks is essential, as you will be responsible for translating initial customer concepts into detailed 3D designs. Success in this role requires a high level of creativity and the ability to exercise independent judgment to develop functional designs that align with customer requirements. Verify Project Material and Labor ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES / DUTIES • Concept, Design, Detail, and Release custom ‘One-Off’ machinery. • Performs work requiring a thorough knowledge of mechanical theory and principles, statutory codes, and equipment requirements. • Designs in accordance to OSHA standards related to safety and ergonomics. • Analyzes mechanical drawings supplied by customers • Understands industrial and GD&T tolerances related to product design and assembly requirements • Ability to size and design mechanical and electromechanical components such as; chains, sprockets, belts, linear guides, cylinders, motors, servo motors, gearbox, etc. • Ability to incorporate purchased product effectively and efficiently within the mechanical designs • Must be able to collaborate with other engineers and production personnel in team environments to ensure the success of each project. • Determines need for, analyzes, and makes necessary running adjustments or modifications to engineering drawing to satisfy the requirements of custom machinery build. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE • Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, or related field); Master’s degree preferred. • 10+ years of experience in engineering leadership roles, preferably in automation, robotics, or industrial manufacturing. • Strong track record of leading engineering teams in the development of automation solutions and products. • Proven ability to manage large-scale projects, drive process improvements, and optimize cross-functional collaboration. • Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills. • Strong financial acumen and experience managing budgets and engineering resources. • Familiarity with industry regulations, safety standards, and quality assurance processes. • Experience with lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other process improvement methodologies is a plus.
