Mechanical Engineering Technican

Location: Auburn, Indiana Job Type: Full-time Department: Engineering/Product Development Reports to: Product Development Engineering Manager / Director of Engineering Job Summary: SCP is seeking a detail-oriented and hands-on Mechanical Engineering Technician to join our growing team. In this role, you will support the engineering teams in their design, development, testing and manufacturing of new mechanical and electro-mechanical products from concept through production. This ideal candidate will assist the engineering team with creating prototypes, running tests, collecting data, writing reports and ensuring compliance with customer product requirements, industry standards and agency safety regulations. Essential Duties: • Assist in the design, assembly and testing of mechanical and electro-mechanical controls • Conduct testing and evaluations for design optimization, cost reduction, and product failure analysis • Coordinate with regulatory agencies (e.g. CSA) to ensure product compliance • Work with prototype fabricators in the creation of components for new product designs and improvements to existing products • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical systems under the guidance of the product development engineer Basic Qualifications: • Associate degree or diploma in Mechanical Engineering Technology or a related field. • 0–3 years of experience in a mechanical engineering or manufacturing environment. • Knowledge of basic mechanical engineering principles and electrical circuits • Proficiency is reading and understanding engineering drawings and technical blueprints • Proficiency using Microsoft Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project) • Knowledge of materials, manufacturing processes, and prototyping methods. • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail. • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment. • Excellent verbal and written communication and project management skills. Additional Qualifications: • Experience with gas control products (e.g., valves, thermostats, solenoid valves) and ignition devices. • Basic knowledge of 3D CAD systems (preferably SolidWorks) • Familiarity with basic principles of thermodynamics and fluid mechanics. • Working knowledge of regulatory standards (e.g., ISO, ANSI, etc.). • Basic programming or automation knowledge (e.g., PLCs, LabVIEW) is a plus. Maintenance Mechanic

Job Title: Maintenance Mechanic Job Description We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Mechanic responsible for primarily performing mechanical repairs on our equipment. This role involves troubleshooting and repairing conveyor systems, including swapping out drives and 3-phase motors. You will also work on mobile equipment such as forklifts and skid steers, handling tasks like replacing hydraulic hoses, light fabrication, and changing hydraulic cylinders. Additionally, you will change out blades and augers on shredder machines. The role is 95% mechanical and 5% electrical, with an emphasis on preventive maintenance (PM) over reactive maintenance (RM). Responsibilities • Troubleshoot and repair conveyor systems, including drives and motors. • Perform maintenance on mobile equipment like forklifts and skid steers. • Replace hydraulic hoses, perform light fabrication, and change hydraulic cylinders. • Change blades and augers on shredder machines. • Conduct preventive maintenance on conveyor systems and mobile equipment. • Document all preventive maintenance activities and make notes for future repairs. Essential Skills • 2+ years of mechanic/industrial maintenance experience. • General hydraulic/pneumatic experience, including swapping hoses and replacing o-rings. • Experience performing preventive maintenance on equipment. Additional Skills & Qualifications • Troubleshooting 480v 3-phase motors. • VFD troubleshooting experience. • PLC/electrical troubleshooting experience. • Experience troubleshooting and repairing mobile equipment such as cranes and yard trucks. • Computer skills for documentation purposes.
