The Agile Hardware Solutions (AHS) Department seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Integrity Checker, located in Tucson, AZ – (Onsite Role). The Agile Hardware Solutions (AHS) Department strives to develop, mature, and deploy advanced product development capabilities across the Materials Engineering, Mechanical Analysis and Design Integrity (MMD) directorate, enabling the business to deliver high quality work products at competitive discriminating velocity & cost. AHS also partners heavily with the Configuration and Data Management functional disciplines to ensure the highest levels of velocity and efficiency through the product release life cycle, but also ensuring the highest level of quality and rigor of the design to exceed customer requirements and satisfaction. What You Will Do • Perform design verification and validation of traditional Mechanical 2D Drawings as well as “Model-Based” Design TDPs. • Ensure that mechanical design documentation and models consist of both complex and simple machined parts, castings, and other fabricated items. • Ensure that mechanical design drawings, documentation, and associated electronic data output files used for production and / or procurement will undergo a comprehensive verification and validation review for design producibility and data integrity, quality, and consistency. • Confirm that mechanical traditional and Model Based Designs are checked for form, fit, and function to program unique requirements while conforming to specific Company and Industry Specifications & Standards. • Confirm that the synchronization of design representation (drawings) with the design database models from which they were derived, is authenticated. • Overall, ensuring that the design verification and validation follows ASME Y14.41 and MIL-STD-31000 standards. The selected candidate may (with training) also be responsible for providing a formal, systematic, design verification and validation of traditional Electrical 2D TDPs, and be subjected to Electrical Model Based Design TDPs. Electrical TDPs will encompass the circuit card assembly (or flexible circuit assembly), printed wiring board, and schematic design representation (drawings); including electronic Bills of Material (eBOMs), and design models developed using computer aided design tools. Qualifications You Must Have • Typically requires a Bachelor’s in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and 5 years of prior relevant professional experience OR In absence of a degree, 9 years of relevant professional experience is required. • Experience designing, drafting, and/or verifying / validating detailed Technical Data Packages (TDPs). • Experience with Computer Aided Design (CAD) design. • Experience with PTC Creo, ProE, SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Raster, Canvas, GTXImage, and/or Myriad. • Active and transferable U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance. Qualifications We Prefer • Industry Model-Based Engineering (MBE) experience (3D PDF design representation). • Experience with ASME and Military Industry Standards • Configuration & Data Management (CM / DM) comprehension and aptitude to develop advanced TDP record set management techniques in PDM. • (Multi-disciplined support potential) Electrical Computer Aided Design (CAD) design / drafting experience; MentorGraphics design applications (DxDesigner, Valor), DownStream Technologies (BluePrint-PCB), and other electrical change comparison software. • (Multi-disciplined support potential) Electrical Model-Based Engineering (MBE) concepts and electronic Bills of Material (eBOMs) experience. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. Position Summary This position assists the Engineering department in creating 3D parametric drafting/modeling. Essential Duties • Create or modify 3D models and engineering drawings for the manufacturing department. • Design and analyze components to improve performance and solve recurrent problems/reduce cost. • Collaborate with engineers and peers to troubleshoot design issues and discrepencies. • Document the mechanical aspects of our products and enhancements. • Create and update installation, assembly, and perform stress analysis. • Liaison with production/fabrication team to ensure accuracy and efficiency. • Other duties as assigned. Physical Requirements • Ability to use a computer for prolonged use of time that can exceed 6 hours. • Ability to work in extreme temperatures including over 100 degrees and under 32 degrees Fahrenheit. • Ability to traverse uneven terrain, warm surfaces, and cold surfaces. • Ability to squat, kneel, and lay prone for extended periods of time. • Ability to travel for up to five days a week. • Able to and comfortable working in confined spaces. • Ability to wear a respirator according to OSHA stands. • Ability to lift 25 pounds to pick up objects and tools. • Ability to walk up and down ladders.
