Job Description Primary Function of Position The Future Forward group within Intuitive Surgical is searching for a Senior Mechanical Engineer with a focus on the development of new catheter instruments, contributing to the exploration of a novel concept for a new application of surgical robotics from proof of concept through detailed mechanical design, prototype manufacturing, and pilot level manufacturing. The Senior Mechanical Engineer will develop robotic catheter instrumentation for robotic systems for minimally invasive surgical applications. The successful candidate will have both the technical depth to resolve complex mechanical, materials and manufacturing design issues and the ability to work in an interdisciplinary team to troubleshoot to root cause higher level system issues. Essential Job Duties • Work in a small, cross-functional project team to design, develop, and verify flexible robotic surgical instruments • Develop test methods, fixtures, and measurement tools to evaluate the performance of individual components, sub-assemblies, and full assemblies • Analyze and interpret data generated by novel / custom sensors to optimize performance, reliability, and accuracy. • Generate requirements and design specifications that drive product safety, performance, and durability • Hands-on assembly and testing of equipment and devices to support proof of concept, design development, pre-clinical, and V&V activities • Research and utilize knowledge of catheter component suppliers and internal catheter prototyping to facilitate rapid requirements, risk analysis, and testing • Generate and execute test methods to investigate and determine root cause of design, manufacturing, or material defects • Support preclinical labs, observe clinical cases, and conduct review literature to inform design decisions • Development and documentation of design and manufacturing documentation including: inspection procedures, assembly instructions, test methods, purchase specifications, BOMs, component / assembly drawings per the company’s operating procedures

The military product line is growing substantially, and a position is open for a dynamic candidate, with engineering background for maintaining the quality of the final product, by managing the quality of the parts and assemblies that are delivered by the suppliers and contract manufacturers, to ensure that the MIL SPEC product meets the required quality standard and the specifications, for shipment to the customer. The position requires a BS in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering, with degree (MS) or BS Minor in Quality, with 2 years of experience with Quality, related to mechanical systems. Position and responsibilities will be based on candidate review. The candidate who shows superior capabilities in some or all of the below job functions will be considered • Quality, ISO 9001:2015, and AS9102B knowledge and experience • Hands on system inspection which meets quality and CMM requirements • Interacting with suppliers and contract manufacturers, for quality delivery and FAI • Interacting with customer quality team for meeting the customer quality requirements • Conduct tests on inbound materials from suppliers and outbound products for shipping • Familiarity with Solid modeling and design, including Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) per ASME Y14.5 • Ensure that all of the quality check procedures put in place by the company are followed during every production phase • Create comprehensive documentation for quality issues and note the corrective actions that were taken • Educate production team on quality control issues and work with departmental managers to improve overall company safety and product quality • Create process checklists and coordinate quality inspections with departmental managers • Review of hardware defects, and identification of systemic root causes and process improvements • Maintain calibration records • Production of reports Requirements • Bachelors or Master Degrees in Mechanical, Manufacturing or Industrial Engineering, with Quality degree or emphasis • Two years of Quality experience • QMS and ISO 9001:2015 experience • Previous experience with mechanical systems, or component assembly and delivery • Solidworks experience and stack up tolerance verification • Skilled in documenting activities and maintaining records • Ability to manage time, resources and staff • Ability to direct technicians • Good communication and team working skills • Comfortable working in a rapid pace environment, and handling multiple projects, simultaneously • Experience working in an ISO 9001 compliant environment Personal Attributes • Motivated, creative, and committed • Positive, with “can do” attitude • Quick learner • Capable of working in a small and innovative company environment • Communicative and a team player • Good analytical skills Company Overview and Benefits Altex Technologies Corporation (www.altextech.com) has been developing and commercializing innovative energy solutions, which are clean, quiet, efficient and cost effective, since 1985.
